I Am the Icarus Mastermind Says 'Swimming the Witch' Was Inspired by Nirvana -- Song Premiere
Daniel Godfrey
In this Noisecreep exclusive, we bring you 'Swimming the Witch,' a ripping track off I Am the Icarus' upcoming album.
I Am the Icarus mastermind Daniel Godfrey gave Noisecreep the skinny on the track:
"'Swimming the Witch'" like much of this record, is a song that appeals to the teenager in me. The Nirvana influence is patently obvious especially on the chorus riff. When I first spoke with Pete Charell about producing I remember telling him something to the effect of, "I want to make a record like 'In Utero.'" The irony is that this song sounds more like a 'Nevermind' B-side. The lyrics are simply a casual effect of being poor and the recent "Occupy" rhetoric from both sides. I'm really looking forward to playing these songs live, Travis Miguel is bringing a different spin to the live versions that I really enjoy."
