King's X Drummer Jerry Gaskill Recovering From Heart Attack

Jerry Allen Thomas

There's good news and bad news regarding King's X drummer/singer Jerry Gaskill. The bad news is that Gaskill, 54, suffered a heart attack on Saturday night (Feb. 25.) The good news is that he is in stable condition after being operated on.

Metal Blade head honcho Brian Slagel tweeted about Gaskill's heart attack, posting the following message: "Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Jerry Gaskill who suffered a heart attack last night."

King's X bassist/vocalist dUg Pinnick, who has been playing with Gaskill for decades, having joined forces back in 1978, also posted a tweet (which is unedited) about his bandmate's condition, writing: "Jerry woke up pulling chords out, hes fiesty! that's a good sign! thanks everyone for prayers and good vibes!"

Thanks for the visual, Doug! Nothing, not even a heart attack, can keep Jerry Gaskill down. We're glad he hasn't lost his fighting spirit despite these circumstances.

The fate of King's X planned three-week tour, slated to kick off on March 28 in Austin, Texas is undetermined at press time.

Noisecreep sends best wishes out to Gaskill and hope he makes a full recovery.

Jerry, I'm sorry! I've noticed you've not been answering your email. I did not know why. Be Blessed as you recover fully. By the way I had a dream maybe a year ago in which DuG was with some great musicians, but not you. Don't leave him now, It's not about him and you know it. Love you too much, Randy... searchfortruth2004@yahoo.com
