Are you ready for the new Limp Bizkit and Lil Wayne single?
Well, it's called 'Ready to Go' and it's due to drop online next week. It marks the rap rock band's first volley for new label Cash Money. Normally, anything Lil Wayne touches turns to gold and Fred Durst is likely hoping this collab will enjoy Weezy's Midas touch. Durst and Weezy met in up down in Miami after the 2012 Grammys to record the tune.
According to Billboard, Cash Money guru Bryan "Birdman" Williams is already throwing props at the song, saying, "It'll be a great way to let the world know that [the band] is a part of us," says Williams. He also described the song as "rock, but it's hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger."
Well, that is what the Bizkit was known for its entire career, melding rap and rock in a melodic way. So it's no surprise that the band signed with a hip-hop label after splitting with Interscope after a lengthy relationship there.
Birdman was also quick to point out that his label scooped up the Durst-fronted band for a good reason. "If we find some great talent, we're gonna embrace it," he said. "Limp Bizkit, to me, is just a perfect match for us... It was something that [Durst] was interested in doing, and I was already a fan, and I was like, 'Let's do it.' It's good for the brand, it will bring a different look for us, and we're definitely trying to expand on that side of music."
A video featuring Weezy is in the works, and the band is working in the studio in Australia. He also praised Durst's and the band's work ethics, saying, "They're just gonna go in and get it done. We're looking to put an album out this year, but right now we're dropping the single with him and Wayne, and we're gonna vibe from there. Fred's all the way in -- he understands what we're about, hard work and dedication. To me, they're one of the hardest workers in the business."
This isn't the first time Limp Bizkit has hooked up with a rap artist for a single In 1999, Durst and company had a big hit with 'N 2 Gether Now,' a song that also featured Method Man.
