Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi Receives 'Last Dose' of Chemotherapy

Back in January, Tony Iommi stunned the metal world with news that he'd been diagnosed with lymphoma. His battle with the disease led Black Sabbath to scrap all but one of their planned reunion dates, but now, it seems, the ailing guitarist is on the comeback trail. Last night, he took to Facebook to update fans on his progress.

"Well, I've had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon, the steroids were the worse," Iommi wrote. "I've now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I'm told can be very tiring so we'll see."

While Sabbath was forced to postpone its tour, the group has evidently continued recording a new album -- its first to feature the original lineup in 33 years. Sessions had begun last year in Los Angeles, but following Iommi's diagnosis, the band decamped for London to continue recording.

"A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most days and have some great new tracks," Iommi wrote.

"And, importantly thanks again for your kind messages, hope to be seeing you soon."
