MxPx's Mike Herrera Picks His Five Favorite Cities to Visit on Tour

MxPx bassist/vocalist Mike Herrera has been touring since he was still in high school, during the early '90s. Back then, the Washington state-based power trio played every and any VFW Hall that would have them. All of the hard work paid off as MxPx went on to become one of the more popular bands on the pop punk circuit, even landing them a major label recording deal with A&M Records in 1997.

Plans Within Plans, the band's ninth album since forming in 1992, just hit stores this week and features some of the biggest hooks in MxPx's entire catalog.

Currently in Europe in support of their new album, Herrera, 35, took a moment to send us his list of the five cities (outside of America) that he loves visiting when he's out touring.

1. Tokyo, Japan
"I love the culture and the respect for their profession. They're remarkably innovative. What's not to love? Loving sushi helps."

2. Venice, Italy
"This city seems as if it defies the odds each day it doesn't sink into the sea. It's a widescreen panoramic of a scene right out of a Hollywood film. Amazing architecture."

"The people and the city are alive! Oh yeah, drink vodka!"

4. Buenos Aires, Argentina
"A beautiful city with a place that in my opinion has THE BEST pizza in the world. Yes, I said it. I can't remember the name but I've been there twice and it got even better."

5. Jakarta, Indonesia
"This is another amazing feat by modern man to build a gigantic city. They succeeded, the place is huge. OK, the Indonesian people are so great and full of life! It's infectious, in a good way. The shows there are amazing too."

MxPx will be celebrating the release of Plans Within Plans by performing four commemorative "20th Anniversary Shows."

Their first stop begins in their home away from home, Seattle, WA, on Saturday, May 26, at El Corazon, with Amber Pacific and guests, followed by two Southern California House of Blues showcases. MxPx will join forces with friends Set Your Goals, Mest and Rufio for back-to-back performances at both The House of Blues Anaheim on Friday, June 29, and West Hollywood on Saturday, June 30.

MXPX will also head to Northern California to perform at JoshuaFest for the third time. The band will headline the main stage.
