The Gaslight Anthem Trash Axl Rose, German Metallers Celebrate Anniversary + More

Brian Fallon, the frontman of The Gaslight Anthem, a Jersey basement band with a punk rock ethos and a Springsteen-like storytelling ability, took it upon himself while onstage in Brooklyn last night (May 16) to trash Guns N' Roses' singer Axl Rose about the lyrics on Appetite for Destruction. He proclaimed, "Why don't you listen to Appetite for Destruction again and tell me how many chicks it's offending? Dude, I was so blind to it at 7 years old. I don't know what I was talking about. I was like 'Yeah, it is so easy, being 7.'" His rant against a record that came out well over 20 years ago is curious, if nothing else. [Metal Insider]

Vision of Disorder's new album will be called The Cursed Remain Cursed. Vocalist Tim Williams opened up about what expect from these Strong Islanders, saying, "This record is vintage VOD, but we've all grown as musicians and individuals since the last stuff we released. It's pretty diverse. You've got songs like 'Blood Red Sun' that are among the most forward-thinking, progressive things we've ever done, while still being real vicious-but there are some straight up numbers too, like 'Hard Times' and 'Loveless.'" He continued, "Lyrically it's coming from a pretty dark place, falling into the pits of one's own personal hell, and having to crawl out or die down there, plus there's some more political stuff too. Fans of Teutonic metal warriors Sodom will celebrate 30 years of metal fury this year, as the band is releasing a limited edition box set on July 17. 30 Years Sodomized - 1982-2012 will be released in North America and limited to 300 copies. It will include LPs Official Bootleg - The Witchunter Decade, colored vinyl; 1 CD Official Bootleg - The Witchhunter Decade; 2CD Thirty Years War best of compiled by Tom Angelripper; 30th anniversary poster; postcard; sticker; 32-page book in LP format about the history of the band including unseen photos. In addition to the box set, the double gatefold LP Official Bootleg - The Witchhunter Decade will also be released on July 17. Only 250 copies will be made available in North America, commemorating the death of cult drummer Chris Witchunter, who died four years ago. [Via Press Release]

Rival Sons have finished their new album in Nashville. There is no title to the follow up to 2011's Pressure & Time yet. Earache will issue the platter in August. Guitarist Scott Holiday said, "We have officially completed and turned in our next full length record. We thought we might give ourselves a bit more time to work this time around, as opposed to the 20 days for Pressure & Time... BUT, it was even MORE crazy this time. Everything was finished in about the same amount of time (22 days), but this time we are giving much more music (a much longer record) - nearly twice that of P&T." [Via Earache Press Release]
