High on Fire has announced that it will be forced to miss this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as vocalist/guitarist Matt Pike enters treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.

The award winning power trio (also featuring drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz) will put its scheduled touring plans on hold indefinitely as Pike takes the necessary steps towards regaining his health. [Press Release]

Hellbilly headbanger Hank 3 will play the "One Big Way" benefit show to support Franklin, Tennessee's Happy Tales Humane, and all of its four-legged residents. The benefit will take place on Friday, Aug. 3 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tenn. "At a no-kill shelter like Happy Tales Humane, it isn't the most low-cost or easy way to deal with homeless pet over-population. This is my fourth year performing for them and it's just a different way to try and give back," Hank said in a statement.

"This shelter helps people in bad situations by taking in their pets instead of forcing them to have them put down. Animals are therapeutic to a lot of people and it's important to learn about ways to rescue them. There are millions of dogs out there that already need a home, so they don't need to be bought from a puppy mill or purebred breeder." Woof woof. [Marathon Music Works]

Huntress' Jill Janus is one badass chick, known for her appreciation of the occult. The singer reveals the origins of her interest in the other worlds, saying, "I was born in a very eccentric family on a farm in the Catskill Mountains of New York. From the time I was a child, my parents always encouraged my pagan ways, so there's never been a moment when I haven't been encouraged to seek my own path. I don't speak of many details. I prefer to keep it in my music, you know, to keep the mystery and to keep it sacred." Janus also confirmed that she is indeed a witch, but never fear. She's not in a coven that's out for blood. She said, "I am a witch and I have been since birth, but I don't walk the path of darkness. I am not a satanist. I'm the type of witch that likes to trip my tits off in the woods on shrooms and dance with fairies." [Loudwire]

Rhode Island doom dealers Pilgrim will headline the annual Stoner Hands of Doom Fest, which is set for Aug. 30 through Sept. 2 at the El n Gee Club in New London, Conn. Earthride, Revelation, When the Deadbolt Breaks and more are confirmed to appear. SHoD has been in existence since 1999, and many acts are unsigned/indie and attendees travel thousands of miles to gather in the name of rock. Drummer Krolg Splinterfist said, "We are privileged and honored to be headlining the bill with the legendary Revelation, who has been an inspiration to many modern doom bands, ourselves included." Baroness will issue a bunch of behind-the-scenes clip from Yellow & Green, which drops July 17. The debut vid, which was filmed as they launched their recent tour, is six minutes in length and follows the band as they hit the road and broaches a variety of topics, from road-testing new tunes to the original name for the song "Take My Bones Away."
