Queensrÿche Part With Singer Geoff Tate, Enlist Todd La Torre as Replacement

Citing months of "growing creative differences," Seattle prog-rock greats Queensrÿche have announced that they've officially parted ways with lead singer Geoff Tate and replaced him with Todd La Torre.

Formerly a member of Crimson Glory, La Torre recently played two shows with his new bandmates, fronting the side project Rising West. That band focused its set on the first five Queensrÿche albums, adding a cover of Iron Maiden's "Wratchchild," Blabbermouth.net reports.

"We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction," drummer Scott Rockenfield said in a statement. "We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can't wait to bring Queensrÿche to our fans with Todd behind the microphone."

While all scheduled Queensrÿche shows are "on hold," the band is in the process of revising its itinerary and encourages fans to check its website for updates.
