Children of Bodom Sign to New Label, Kamelot Find a New Singer & More -- News!
Spinefarm
Symphonic metal band Kamelot have announced that Tommy Karevik of Seventh Wonder is their new lead singer. Ex-vocalist Roy Khantatat left the fold in April 2011 due to personal reasons. The band sorted through several hundred (!!!) candidates before filling the vacant position. Karevik was one of the guest singers on the band's 2011 world tour. Of that experience, Karevik said, "The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together! By then I was really into the band's music and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show."
Karevik is also thrilled about his new position: "I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can't wait to move into the new era of the band together with the guys. I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. From this day, a new journey has begun and I am really eager to meet you all along the way to share my passion for this music!" A new Kamelot album is on deck for September and will be supported by a world tour. [Via Freeman Press Release] [Kamelot Website]
Sevendust's Morgan Rose and Clint Lowery are stretching and flexing their creative muscles in a new project dubbed Call Me No One. When asked who he would love to collaborate with, Rose said, "I guess it would probably be Trent Reznor. I think that he's probably pretty similar to Clint in the fact that there's a strange spot in our brain and I'd be really interested to see how that fits with Trent. I know he's a pretty damaged individual and those are always fun people to write with. I like the fact that he's extremely unsafe." Remember, Sevendust covered Reznor's 'Hurt' a few years ago, so the fact that Rose and Lowery want to collaborate with the Nine Inch Nails guru comes as no surprise. [Loudwire]
