Founding Cro-Mags bassist Harley Flanagan has been charged with slashing two of the band's current members, William Berario and Michael Couls, with a hunting knife during a backstage attack last night in New York City, according to various sources.
The hometown punk legends had been slated to perform at Webster Hall with Sick Of It All and Vision of Disorder as part of the CBGB Festival, but around 8:15PM, the New York Post reports, Flanagan stormed into the group's dressing room brandishing a knife. In the fight that ensued, Berario was reportedly slashed above his eye and bitten on the cheek, while Couls suffered cuts on his stomach and arm. They were taken to Bellevue Hospital, as was Flanagan, who evidently sustained a broken leg. Not surprisingly, the show was cancelled, and addressing the crowd, Cro-Mags singer John Joseph blamed Flanagan for "ruining the night for everyone."
Flanagan was hit with two counts of second-degree assault, as well as weapons charges, the Post reports.
"Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of New Yorkers, music fans and the general public," reps for the festival said in a statement. "We don't feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events."
