It was announced at this past weekend's Comic-Con International, held in San Diego. Following this announcement, Coheed and Cambria will embark on a North American tour with Iron Maiden, which kicks off July 24 in Winnipeg, Canada, and sees the band also making stops at both Reading and Leeds Festivals before ending in Charlotte, N.C. Sept. 16.
"The relationship with Leverage is one we've been searching for," says Sanchez. "They do amazing, proactive work and are genuinely as passionate about this story as we are, which is essential for such a multi-dimensional title like The Amory Wars. We're beyond excited."
The Amory Wars, is a sci-fi saga that chronicles the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign. The story was originally created by Sanchez to serve as inspiration for the Coheed and Cambria's albums. He later expanded the mythology to other mediums, including comic books and graphic novels. In 2010, the singer collaborated with writer Peter David (The Incredible Hulk, Aquaman) to write a full-length prose novel, Year of the Black Rainbow, which told the origin story of the series, and was released in conjunction with the band's album of the same name.
