Deftones Drop New Track, Shadows Fall/Killswitch Engage Side Project Sign Deal + More News
13th Witness
Deftones have shared a moody but groove-laden track from the forthcoming album Koi No Yokan and it's called "Tempest." It's loaded with tempo-shifting dynamics, as is to be expected from Deftones, with plenty of push and pull between the quiet and the loud. The song is a showpiece for singer Chino Moreno's androgynous vocals and Stephen Carpenter's rawer than red meat riffery.
Listen to "Tempest" below and remember Koi No Yokan is out on Nov. 13.
Death Ray Vision, the side project featuring Shadows Fall's Brian Fair, Killswitch Engage's Mike D'Antonio and Overcast's Pete Cortese - so essentially, several members of Overcast- have signed to Bullet Tooth, the new'ish label run by ex-Trustkill guru Josh Grabelle who we profiled yesterday. "Josh Grabelle has the capacity to get our record out to more people then we can reach on our own," D'Antonio said. "It also doesn't hurt that he is an old friend and is really excited about Death Ray Vision. What more could you want?" We're in. We want to hear it. [Metal Insider]
Cradle of Filth have shared "Manticore," another song from The Manticore and Other Horrors. The English black metal despots have shifted gears a little, with our friends at Metal Sucks commenting that the track sounds a bit like Goatwhore We listened -twice- and are apt agree. Listen and tell us what you think. The album drops October 30. [Metal Sucks]
Grind-death masters The Red Chord are working on a split 7". Not many details about the release are clear, other than the tweet issued by guitarist Mike "Gunface" McKenzie, confirming that it is happening. [Twitter]
