Unida, the stoner rock band featuring onetime Kyuss and current Kyuss Lives! vocalist John Garcia, have booked a gig at the Whisky in Hollywood. It's set for Nov. 24. The band released an incredible, much slept on EP, Coping With the Urban Coyote, back in 1999 and had signed to IDJ, but that major label debut was never released. The current lineup consists of Garcia, Arthur Seay (guitar), Miguel Cancino (drums) and Seay's nephew, Owen Seay, who is all of 20. "We wanted a young hungry dude with no baggage. We've been through a lot with different bass players and we have a super positive family vibe so we just wanted someone who fits," Arthur told CoachellaValleyWeekly.com. [Blabbermouth]
Fallen Blue, a police organization, has put together Rock Harvest 2012. Machine Head guitarist, the newly married Phil Demmel (who swapped vows with Bleeding Through beauty and keyboardist Marta Peterson), opened up about his excitement about the band's fall tour with Dethklok, All That Remains and The Black Dahlia Murder. It's an eclectic bill, and one not to be missed by metal fans. While Demmel is not a huge fan of Metalocalypse, he is still stoked to get on the road. He said, "You know I've seen bits and pieces of the cartoon and not really all too familiar with it but I know that it's a whole different demographic that's coming to a Machine Head show and touring with bands like All That Remains and Black Dahlia, it's such a diverse group and such a cool, eclectic bill. I'm looking forward to touring with all of the bands, I think it'll be great." Machine Head will release Machine Fucking Head Live on Nov. 13. [Loudwire]
