Guns N' Roses Vegas Poster: Graphic Image Draws Criticism

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A county commissioner in Las Vegas says she regrets the board renamed a street in honor of Guns N' Roses after finding out about the band's suggestive promotional poster.

An ad promoting the band's four-week run (seen here) at the Hard Rock Hotel depicts a woman who appears to be sexually assaulted beneath the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign.

It's a sanitized version of the banned cover for the album "Appetite for Destruction," which features a disheveled woman with a breast exposed and underwear pulled below her knees.

County leaders this week temporarily renamed Paradise Road to Paradise City Road after the band's famous song.

Commissioner Mary Beth Scow tells the Las Vegas Sun she didn't know about the inappropriate poster.

Neither the hotel nor the band returned calls seeking comment.

Oh for crying out loud. That cover, from Appetitie For Destruction was put out in the late 80's. It raised plenty of controversy back then.
During their admitadly short time at the top of the charts they were kind of a breath of fresh air. At least for that time period. At the time the hair bands and the glam rock folk were more the norm. Axl, Slash and Izzy were none of the above. They were obnoxious straight forward hard charging rockers. That cover was totally appropriate for what the band was about. They were chaos. Personally I still love Appetite and a couple of their other albums. Sadly though they did fall apart, drugs, fame and ego's got in the way and theysome members sold out to a degree. When they were hot they were the real deal.
For this councelwoman to complain now? Just plain silly.

When I saw the aol headline "Is Band's Poster too Graphic?" I immediately thought of my best friend's poster hanging in her room, when we were thirteen, of a fat robot bug jumping over a fence to kill(?) a robot man who raped a woman selling little robots. Uugh, I hated it then and hate it now.
Honestly, people should do their homework when they're going to honor someone in the public domain.

Guns and Roses will NEVER exist again.
The actual talent has moved on to bigger and brighter areas of the industry.
Axel Rose was NEVER a good singer ( out of the studio ) ask anyone who has had the unfortunate experience to see him live. You cant even smoke or drink enough to make him sound good.
As far as that poster goes, Pffffffffft DUH, of course its going to have a sexy woman who looks like an old road ***** that used to follow the band in its glory days.
Only difference is this one looks like she just finished off a bucket of her favorite ice creme and is now in total extacy while the partially invisible, down on his luck, bum robot is begging for her spoon. He didnt notice the hot rod robot who was taking a shortcut through the construction zone though.
See, simple explanation and no sexual harassment.
