Sharon Osbourne Undergoes Double Mastectomy

Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy over fears she could develop breast cancer.

The 60-year-old famed artist manager, television personality and wife of Ozzy Osbourne, told Hello! magazine that doctors told her she had a genetic mutation which raised her chances of developing breast cancer, which influenced her decision to have the procedure done.

"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought: 'The odds are not in my favour'. I've had cancer before and I didn't want to live under that cloud: I decided to just take everything off, and had a double mastectomy," she told Hello!

She also told the magazine that the operation lasted 13 hours. "I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to be able to live my life without that fear all the time. It's not 'pity me', it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around."

Sharon had a bout with colon cancer in the early 2000s.

Sharon is a level headed, intelligent woman...and FEARLESS to boot. I'm not sure how many people could have made that same decision in her place, but it shows a will of steel.

Cancer is not genetic no matter what the medical "experts" want you to believe. However, we are born with our mother's chemistry and if our mother abused alcohol, drugs, sugar, junk food, or had any kind of chemical dependency, we inherit that. All of these things weaken our immune system, which is what keeps us from becoming ill. What sickens me is how people have bought into the BS that the medical industry wants us to believe in order to ensure that doctors have plenty of business. This weekend I was on a boat with a group of intelligent people, all slathering their skin with the toxins in sunscreen, believing they were protecting their bodies. It's just so sad that people are so gullible. :(

I cannot believe that someone as smart and successful as this woman is would actually do something like this. What is the world coming to when women allow parts of their body to be hacked off for no reason other than the possibility of illness. Tragic, truely tragic. I wish her story would be buried so that young women who may look up to her do not think that this was a wise decision.

I had several surgeries for this in 2010 including this one. Then I had a year of chemo. It was awful. I fear it more than anything. I hope this takes care of it for you. I will add you to my prayers for other sufferers and survivors. It's a horrible club to be a member of but alot of really good and strong people belong. Don't let any of the ignorant posts into your head. We'll pray they never have to realize what we already know.

I will pray for Sharon. My family knows that we also carry the bad gene. In 1966 I found out I had breast cancer like my mom she was told in 1963 she had breast cancer. We both had our breast removed for me it is 16 years now. In 2000 when my mom lost her fight with breast cancer I had my left breast removed I did not have any cancer in my breast,. My two daughter have a 86% chance of getting cancer. To protect them they have a mammagram done ever 6 months. I also have an uncle that had to have a double mastectomy because he breast cancer in both breasts. To all women get your mammagram every year. Good luck to all women and men.
