Jon Bon Jovi, 'Jersey Shore' Feud: Singer Slams MTV Reality Show

For Jersey-born rocker Jon Bon Jovi, the Jersey Shore he grew up in is a far cry from what MTV's 'Jersey Shore' depicts on its weekly reality show.

Bon Jovi, who's from Sayreville, NJ, shared how offended he is by the TV show that has castmembers like The Situation, Snooki, Pauly D, Sammi Sweetheart, Vinny and Ronnie partying non-stop on the shore.

He tells Britain's OK! Magazine: "It's not my Jersey Shore. I was there way before they were. We used to go down to the boardwalk all the time when we were kids, that was a cool place to go. People from New Jersey know that's not what it's like."

The 50-year-old singer also voiced his anger that the show has led to instant-stardom for the cast, which he feels is unfair. "I more resent that those shows create 'celebrities', that's bad," he says. "Some kid is struggling to write a song, or to be an actor or write a book, and kids want to get famous to be famous. I don't like that. It's really sad."

Bon Jovi is famously a big supporter of his hometown state. A year ago, he opened a charity restaurant called Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, NJ. At the eatery, it's pay-what-you-can-eat, and if diners can't pay cash, they earn their meal by cleaning up in the kitchen. In a recent interview with Katie Couric, Bon Jovi said the restaurant has been packed every night since Superstorm Sandy hit NJ last week.

I agree with everyone who states that these shows are stupid. The producers make out as if everyone from the area of these shows act that way. I'm from the south. This Honey Boo Boo thing sheds a very unfavorable light on the south. I wish they would take that trashy show off the air! We DO NOT act that way in the south!

please lets ALL remember that the people displayed on "Jersey Shore" are from New York, not NJ. And please lets also all remeber that there is North New Jersey, and South New Jersey, and they are basically two sepearate states- South New York, and East Philadelphia. Then there is the south jersey shore, which is what you dont get to see on TV, and where you REALLY want to go in NJ. Kudos to Bon Jovi for speaking out against this. As a Philadelphia native, and now resident of Philadelphia East (South New Jersey), this show is a debacle, and should really be called "New Yorkers travel to the North Jersey Shore"... or "North Jersey Shore" yeah, thats the one.. thats really what it should be called.

Hi Cameron!

Jon Bon Jovi is absolutely correct. I agree with him totally. That show portrays the jersey shore in such a bad light. Its not like that at all, and I can't believe anyone would make a reality show like this and put on the air. First of all, its a disgrace to the state of New Jersey and also a disgrace to way any human being should act. Kids watch this show and think it is great. Kids should watch this show and say to themselves, "This is the way NOT to act when you get into your 20's!" I think Bon Jovi to speak up about this has been a long time coming. He's a great representation of New Jersey, certainly not those kids on The Jersey Shore Show. Its disgusting!

I'm so pleased that Jon Bon Jovi has spoken out...its about time...you are so right...the reality cast protrays the Jersey shore as something stupid...as if people that come to the shore/or live in Jersey... has nothing to look forward to other than a bunch of out of order distroted drunks and druggies...a drunk woman...my God...so degrading...what a poor example...the women of Jersey shore from the reality show portray and the men....just a bunch of air heads...full of drugs and alcohol...with nothing more to do than to destroy and be disstructive...just awful...its about time someone speaks and then they go on to promote...being sexually active and if no one has morals and values...no home training or respect for themselves and other...drugs have been destroying lives for as long as I can remember...and there is nothing glamorous about the reality show of Jersy shore...depits....destorted lives...

I grew up in Pa. but I have to agree 1000% Jon Bon Jovi. I can understand exactly how he feels. I'm sure it is a feeling of hurt, sadness, and embrassment to him. They have completely tainted the memories of former times at the shore. These misfits on TV and their producers are one sorry bunch. The sadder part is wealth they accured acting like asses. Of course, they were only successful because of the misguided and brain dead of alot of todays youth.

Hi Cameron!

I totally agree with you. They received wealth acting like total fools, while others are trying so hard to get into acting and just can't, these idiots are getting paid to get drunk and go to clubs all the time and use foul language. Its a sick world we live in with people putting this trash on tv!

Why just Jersey Shore? The whole lot of them just waste television air time. Create a seperate channel where they can stuff all the reality shows and let us get back to watching programs that actually mean something or are for real entertainment purposes.

I so agree with you...I have been complaining about these reality shows for a few years, they stink and are SO boring, But yet the TV honchos took of some of the most popular Soaps, that were clearly pure intertainment for most of us, even my husband had me down load it so he could watch it when he got home, some of the men he worked with did the same thing.
