Ted Nugent Writes Open Letter to Joe Biden: Offers His Services, Suggestions on Gun Control Issue

The end is nigh! It's a sign of the apocalypse. Staunch right winger Ted Nugent has written an open letter to Vice President Joe Biden, offering his advice and suggestions not for amending gun control laws in the country but for improved mental health care, which will help prevent gun violence and massacres.

Never one to mince words or hold back on sharing his opinions, Uncle Ted is incredibly vociferous about his love of hunting, which makes him Public Enemy No. 1 in PETA's eyes. He is also a fierce proponent of the Second Amendment, which guarantees every American the right to keep and bear arms. The Motor City Madman believes that the gun policy should not be changed, but that mental health care should become a national focus, to prevent people with the potential to open fire, like Adam Lanza did at a Connecticut school last month.

It's essentially a twist on the "guns don't kill people; people kill people" argument. The Nuge doesn't want any modification of what types of guns people can own; instead, he suggests the creation of PSAs and better mental health care provisions.

Nevertheless, Nugent offered his services as an expert on weapons to help prevent further occurrences.

The Nuge's letter was printed in The Washington Times.

It read:

"As you gather your team to study massacres and how to stop them, I offer to you my services and a lifetime of expertise on guns in all their implementations... In the spirit of goodwill and a deep desire to end gut-wrenching, incredibly sad and senseless rampages, I offer you the following recommendations:

"I encourage you to persuade the president to lead this effort by providing a number of public service announcements. The announcements should include watching out for each other, encouraging parents to be more involved in their children's lives regarding entertainment choices, and knowing various indicators we should watch for in people who are unstable. Clearly, the focus on solving these mass murders must be on the mentally ill.

"In almost every instance of mass killing, there were ample red flags and warning alarms that either were avoided or were not acted upon by mental health professionals, family members, friends and acquaintances. While I deeply respect an individual's privacy and civil liberties, the American people need basic awareness of what indicators to look for regarding potentially violent, psychotic people. Our collective safety begins with being collectively vigilant.

"I don't encourage you to recommend a ban on any weapon, magazine capacity or type of ammunition. That won't accomplish anything other than prevent the 99.9 percent of responsible, law-abiding Americans from enjoying these modern weapons as we do now.

"We should never recommend or develop public policy that restricts the rights of the good guys based upon what evil people do or might do. If that were the case, alcohol still would be banned. As you may know, drunk drivers kill an estimated 12,000 Americans each year and hurt tens of thousands more."

What is it about these gun nuts? You'd think that guns were a basic necessity of life. As one who carried and used weapons in the mlitary, I fail to understand this crazyness. If you're a hunter..ok....with a bolt-operated version(6 rounds). If a target shooter, there are official ranges(police for example)....use these. If you believe that we live in a dangerous society, aren't there armed police?? As for the 2nd amendment, it refers to what we now know as "The National uards."

God, you have it all backwards. You must have failed your History class because the 2nd Amendment is not for sporting and deer hunting, and is definitely not related what so ever to the National Guard. Stalin, Mao, Hitler had his "Police" armed to the teeth and it turns out millions of people died because they had no means to defend themselves. You have the gull to sit there and type your nonsense and tell me that there is no threat of Tyranny in America? Please.... you are right a long with Piers Morgan, the perfect poster boy.

These pictures of Ted and Joe above are another evidence of media manipulation. They make Ted look like a lunatic and Joe Biden like he is in such deep sadness and concentration about the issues at hand. I don't assume that for a second. If Joe is contemplating anything at all, it is his continued control of our lives in any way he and our so-called president can, GET OUT OF OUR LIVES AND TEND TO THE REAL PROBLEMS IN AMERICA!

Uncle Teddy's intention is laudable but in the end feckless. Neither Biden nor Obama have public safety as their goal, only short term political advantage. Never let a crisis go to waste when you can demagoge an issue at the biers of the slaughtered innocents. Quite disgusting actually.

I like that letter Nuggent wrote to Bidin. I like his metaphor about alcohol too. Help control mental illness, not ban guns. I'm still on the fence about modern weapons though.

Treason is any act which threatens the violent overthrow of the soverign (President) and the government (Congress). It is a capital crime, expressly contained in the body of the US Constitution and is punishable for between 5 years in prison up to and inclyding the death penalty. It is especially egregious in as much as Mr. Nugent is armed and leads a following of hundreds of thousands of other armed people (the NRA). I am a veteran and did not go to war for my country in order for trash like Nugent to threaten to kill the President and those members of Congress who advocate weapon safety. THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY ON EARTH THAT THE 2ND AMENDMENT PERMITS MURDER AND TREASON AND THE 1ST AMENDMENT DOES NOT EXTEND FREE SPEECH AND FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY TO ARMED INSURRECTION AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. ALL THE MILITIAS ARE ILLEGAL AND NEED TO BE ABOLISHED. Let's get real, America. These people are armed and dangerous psychopaths who, in no way are supported by the majority of Americans. Put them in prison.

Is there anyone in this country more unstable than Ted Nugent? The guy who disrespected our President by stating that he (Ted), would be dead or in jail if Obama were reelected? Ted, set an example to the mentally ill by surrendering your guns and bows.

Robert, I am sorry that logic equates to mentally ill in your Book! Please don't call for your armed neighbor's help when some midnight thug has you in his illegal gun sights. Good luck! You will need more than that!

as our government devolves deeper into a fascist state, it's necessary to first disarm an increasingly rebellious citizenry.. give up your guns, fire up the grill, and celebrate our new national holiday - Dependence Day!
