For Today Guitarist Says There's 'No Such Thing as a Gay Christian'

Hrsito Shindov

Christian metal band For Today has caused a bit of an online raucous, courtesy of their guitarist Mike Reynolds, who steadfastly declared that "homosexuality is a sin" and that there is "no such thing as a gay Christian."

The guitarist made these inflammatory, anti-gay statements on Twitter relating to a pastor named Louie Giglio who was supposed to deliver the Benediction at the second inauguration of President Obama on January 21. Giglio has since stepped down from that duty after some harsh comments he had made about the gay community surfaced. The powers-that-be felt the inauguration program should feature people who unite, rather than divide.

Giglio's removal from the inauguration program incensed Reynolds enough to reference the creation of liberal state church that will accept preachers with pro-LGBT stances, which he feels is wrong. He also encouraged everyone to read their Bibles.

He combined string of posts in his Twitter rant shaped up like this:

"There IS a state church being formed, there is going to be an exclusive acceptance of preachers who advocate the LGBT. Don't be deceived, homosexuality is a sin. This sin with all other sins is what Jesus died for. He conquered so that we would be free. No such thing as a gay Christian, the same as there is no such thing as a Christian who loves his sin. Don't be fooled by the formation of a state church as though the government is being converted, they only use the name of Jesus for their Progressive liberal agenda. If you are a Christian then separate yourself from this civil religion that advocates sin. Be true to God."

The band attempted to stanch the bleeding by issuing a follow up statement, which was much kinder yet still advanced their unwavering Christian beliefs. Notice they they don't condone what Reynolds said, but they don't dismiss it either.

"For Today has always and will always be a band that is about loving people, we have no hatred towards any people regardless of what they believe or how they live. We may not agree on everything but Jesus loves you and died for you. And so would we."

For Today's latest album, Immortal, was released last year on Razor & Tie.

No one REALY knows what the Bible says about homosexuality OR tattoos since it was rewritten and changed over several hundreds of years before it become the semi-modern version the Kig James is today. What we DO know is that leaders of the Church used the Bible to control people and morph our society. If you are a homophobic and against LGBT that is your right but remember that Jesus taught us to love each no matter our "flaws". Stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing and concentrate on living a good Christian life.

He's totally correct too. The term "gay Christian" is something that's been created to comfort and rationalize one's sinful state yet it really holds no Truth. It's a deception,
a lie these people tell/call themselves but make no mistake, thinking someone is a
"gay Christian" is merely fooling yourself.

Could you could show me one piece of scripture that condemns tattoos? Let me guess, you'll pull Leviticus 19:28. Do you understand the context of the times this was said? These words were to counter pagan worship and rituals of the people living around the Israelite. God was condemning the pagans for there idolatry. I don't have tattoos myself, but I find it kind of harsh for you to condemn him as a hypocrite as the bible says you should not judge others as God is the ultimate judge. It's a heart issue and discernment between you and your relationship with Christ.
