Children of Bodom are back in the studio. The Finnish heavy metal champions are sequestered at Danger Johnny Studios, an undisclosed, classified location in Helsinki, working diligently on their eighth album. Expect a summer release.
"It's a nice change to the regular method where we lock ourselves up at a studio in the middle of the woods, usually also during the darkest time of the year," shredder and vocalist Alexi Laiho, who is currently finishing up lyrics for the songs.
Working song titles include "All Twisted," "Slowdance on Nails," "Moto GP," ''FC Pettymys," 'Kananmuisti-ilmiö" and "Trondheim." Some of those names sound pretty metallic to us, so we wouldn't be disappointed if some became confirmed titles. [Via Press Release]
Killswitch Engage have shared the cover for their new album (and first with frontman Jesse Leach since 2002's landmark Alive or Just Breathing) Disarm the Descent via the video below. The album drops on April 2, and the clip is accompanied by a brain-rattling sound clip from the new album.
Oh, and speaking of KsE, Leach has partnered with Chicago-based non-profit Hope for the Day, which helps promote awareness about mental health issues, like depression. In the clip, Leach, who returned to KsE after a decade-long hiatus, offers up some advice to his fans and peers as to how music helped him overcome difficult times in his life.
"Punk rock and hardcore was really the music that first spoke to me, and made me want to have a voice and express myself," said Leach. "That music was definitely an outlet for my emotions, especially when you're that young and still learning how to cope."
Japanese rockers Dir En Grey will release a mini-album, dubbed The Unraveling, on April 3. The release features seven tracks.
"Unraveling"
"Karma"
"Kasumi"
"Karasu"
"Bottom of the Death Valley"
"Unknown.Despair.Lost"
"The Final"
