Randy Blythe Acquitted of Manslaughter

AFP

Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe has been acquitted of manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic. The verdict was handed down today (March 5), with the singer posting a photo on his Instagram, revealing the news of his situation, all the while expressing remorse for the victim.

A quick refresher: Blythe was arrested in June 2012 upon touching down in the Czech Republic to play a show. He had no idea that a fan, Daniel Nosek, 19, had died at a May 2010 LoG show after being thrown from the stage and suffering brain injuries; Nosek died a few weeks later. Blythe was being blamed for causing the fatal injuries, since it was suggested that he tossed the fan from the stage.

That in and of itself created heated debate in the metal community, since the fan-band stage barrier is a sensitive place, especially after the onstage shooting of Pantera's Dimebag Darrell in 2004.

Even so, Blythe, who was jailed for five weeks, always maintained his innocence and that he was not at fault, while consistently expressing remorse for the victim. He also returned to the Czech Republic to face his fate and to stand trial after posting bail. He faced a 10-year prison sentence but he did not shy away from it.

Since Blythe was ruled innocent, the singer is not required to pay compensatory damages to the victim's family.

The prosecutors are appealing, seeking a sentence of five years.

Randy's post on his fate is as follows:

"I have been found not guilty & acquitted of all charges against me. I am a free man. This photo was taken by my friend @aceyslade- it says it all. Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts & prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace. Thank you for your support- Randy."

Randy Blythe did not run away from the law he took his lumps and accepted his fate by a jury of his peers, he was acquitted of manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic as well as being remorseful.
Some people don't owe up to their mistakes, let this be a lesson to all musicians not to allow fans on stage or throw them off physically in a fun jesting way. Some fans are indeed rowdy and get crazy thinking its OK to get up on stage its not a safe place for fans to be when a band is performing.

My deepest condolences to Daniel Nosek family on the loss of their loved one.

wow this whole thing is stupid. WTF is with governments wanting to waste their money putting people in jail for accidents? There are exceptions but for the most part jail does not reform people but simply makes them worse criminals. This sounds like an accident and the fan had to have known the risks when he jumped on stage. So sick and tired of wasting tax dollars trying to put good people in the slammer.
