There's a new update in the case of Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, who was slapped with an assortment of charges related to sex crimes against children at the end of last year. Watkins will stand trial this summer.

The frontman has been in prison in his native Wales since December 2012, when the news broke that he was arrested on a disturbing array of child sex offense charges. He faces two counts of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 –with reports indicating that the girl was just a year old- and three counts of possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children. He is also accused of possession of extreme animal porn, as well.

According to WENN, the singer, 35, did not enter a plea while appearing Cardiff Crown Court in Wales today (March 11) via video link. The hearing was adjourned due to technical issue with the video, but the judge did propose a date of July 15 for the trial. That date should be confirmed at another hearing on Thursday (March 14.)

Watkins' solicitor did issue a statement about his client, who is proclaiming his innocence:

"Mr. Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time."

There are two women charged along with Watkins. They are aged 24 and 20, respectively. They cannot be named for legal reasons. They did not enter a plea today, either.

Watkins' bandmates have remained mum on the situation, other than to offer a statement at the time the charges were made public. They expressed similar shock about the things their frontman stands accused of.
