There aren't many trios on the hard rock scene these days, but one of the ones bucking that trend is Southern California's Kyng. A mix of new rock meets Led Zeppelin, Kyng formed in 2008 and released their debut Trampled Sun in the fall of 2011. Now the band is set to perform at this weekend's massive Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.

"It's going to be a blast. It's pretty damn cool for us," vocalist and guitarist Eddie Veliz says of his band's Rock on the Range slot. "We're a little band from Los Angeles getting to do all these cool things with really awesome bands. We're very excited."

While the band will be performing for thousands this weekend, the vision of Kyng wasn't always so cut and dry. In fact, Kyng really wasn't supposed to exist at all.

"What is crazy about Kyng is that it was my last hurrah," admits Veliz. "You know, I had a steady job doing my thing. Tony (Castaneda, bass) and I had always talked about getting another band together and it was a side project for a moment but as we started writing music, it just kept getting better and better and we decided that we should try to play in front of people instead of just sitting around. We went at it, stuck to our guns and it started to snowball into a tiny machine that is getting bigger."

"People have their expectations and their vision of what Candlebox is," singer Kevin Martin tells Noisecreep. "For me, it's always been changing so 20 years went by so quickly. We've had great times and God-awful times."

Today is one of the good times. Love Stories & Other Musings, the Seattle band's first new album in four years, finally hits stores today. The record features nine new songs, plus five bonus tracks which are re-recordings of the band's biggest hits like "Far Behind" and "Cover Me."

"We had two directions we wanted to go," Martin explains of the re-recording process of "Far Behind." "Do we want to play it the way we usually play it, or do we want to play the new version? When we weigh and pros and cons of everything... when we did the original version, that was a demo that was done a year before we recorded our record for Maverick. We tried to reproduce the song in the studio for the first album. The label came back and said, 'We love the attempt but the original version from the demo is much better.' I think that was always in the back of our minds and it's probably been there for the past 20 years. That demo was, for some reason, magical. We wondered if we could go back in the studio now, have fun with it, better it."

"I think music is always changing and mutating and I really love how it turned out for us," Charm City Devils singer John Allen tells Noisecreep about the band's newest single, a cover of the folk classic "Man of Constant Sorrow."

Most people know "Man of Constant Sorrow" from the movie Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, but the song existed long before George Clooney lip-synched to Dan Tyminski's vocal track.

The cover is the first single from the new album SINS which will be released electronically on April 10.

"Man of Constant Sorrow" dates back to the early 1900s, possibly earlier. This isn't regular territory for a modern rock band. That's exactly what drew Baltimore-based Charm City Devils to the tune.

It isn't everyday you find a metal band that features a classically trained electric violinist. Then again, every metal band isn't HUNG. The band is the brainchild of Lyris Hung, formerly of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Today Noisecreep is proud to exclusively premiere the song "Evil Tsar" from the band's upcoming self-titled debut. HUNG's debut self-titled record will be released on May 8 by ReThink Records, the new label founded by Chris Adler (Lamb of God) and The End Records.

""Evil Tsar" was written to be a crowd-pleaser," guitarist "Evil" Jon Clark tells Noisecreep. "Up to that point we had a lot of really great material but when I started writing the music for "Tsar," the goal was to really go all out in terms of intensity and virtuosic chops."

Clark also acknowledges that "Evil Tsar" has a strong Children of Bodom influence. In this Noisecreep exclusive, we bring you the world premiere of the track. Listen and see if you can hear the influence and the interesting, progressive-heavy arrangement.

"At the end of the day the breakup of the original five guys lies on all of us," Skid Row guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo says in a recent chat with Legendary Rock Interviews. "It was the way we all reacted to each other, it was the things we said and did at that point in time."

Sabo laid it all on the line recently when discussing his current career as a band manager, guitarist and his relationship with former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach. From Snake's point of view, a changing music landscape helped create a rift between Bach and the rest of the band and the differences became too apparent to ignore.

"I think a lot of times what happens a lot times in these situations is that people's idiosyncrasies or characters can become masked or hidden when you are experiencing a certain degree of success. When that success starts to fade certain character issues will come out and rear their head be it in a positive way or a negative way."

When prompted, Snake recalled some of the most contentious times with Bach, including the day the band split from the famed frontman.

There are a few things de rigueur for '80s metal videos: big hair, leather... and a hot girl (or three). Sometimes those video girls morphed into full-fledged vixens and became almost as famous as the bands they loved to hang out with backstage! Usually the girls remained nameless, pretty faces... but in a few cases, the video stars crossed over from popular culture to actual stardom.
