For fans of old-school style industrial rock, there's a band on the scene ready to make its presence known.

Dallas-based True Fallacy is the brainchild of Ben Gorena. Today, the band's sophomore album Making the Noise All Go Away is out. The album is a true collaboration with Gorena's band mate and writing partner Ryan Main. Making the Noise All Go Away was three years in the making, an unheard of amount of time in today's fast-paced "write-record-release" digital world.

"I was going to school and studying medicine and was intrigued at how chemical relationships in the brain relate to human behavior," Gorena tells Noisecreep of his writing inspiration. "That sparked some ideas in terms of lyrical content, so I just jotted down some ideas and things I thought were cool and different forms of language. In terms of melodies and writing song melodies, my brain never quits doing that."

"I actually did live support for his last album and I did some stuff on stage. After that was over, we definitely started working together," Main explains. "Basically, song sketches were sent from Ben to me and I would add my flavors to it and we would just edit and edit. We spent a lot of time doing that actually, probably two years."

When the new Rob Zombie flick Lords of Salem hits debuts April 19, theater-goers will get more than just a historic-horror flick. They'll also enjoy a soundtrack carefully crafted by guitarist John 5 and Griffin Boyce. The soundtrack marks the first time John 5 has scored an entire film.

"I've done a lot of work, for things like Baywatch and I'm educated in all style of music, but this movie has so much music in it, it's unbelievable," John 5 tells Noisecreep. "There's something like 62 cues. That's a tremendous amount of music for a movie. It was like making four albums."

The music is varied and sometimes, John 5 says he just needed to create a "mood" or atmosphere." This meant getting creative and thinking outside the box.

"There's a lot of violins, cellos, violas in soundtracks. I would take an acoustic guitar sometimes and use a violin bone to tune my guitar a different way to make it sound like a violin or a viola. I used very unorthodox methods to make it sound unique and cool. I'm so excited for people to experience this movie."

 Raul Rincon

When Canadian-based journalist Laina Dawes' first book, What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman's Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal, was published by Bazillion Points earlier this year, the curtain was raised on gender and race in metal.

"When you're dealing with black women, or women of color, you're dealing with both gender stereotypes and racial stereotypes and for black women in particular, the racialized, genderized stereotypes are way more pervasive and damaging than I would argue than for any other group of women in any other ethno-cultural group," Dawes explains to Noisecreep. "So I was always really interested as a fan and journalist, looking at those dynamics in the extreme scene. There's still these outside aspects of how society treats people and still permeates them within that scene. You can't pretend that once you're at a show, inside a venue, that the outside world doesn't exist. We bring it in with us."

In her book, Dawes recounts her own personal history, growing up black in her all-white adoptive family. Her early interest in metal came from family and friends and seeing KISS on television. Evolving into heavier bands, Dawes is a big underground hardcore and thrash fan. What Are You Doing Here? features interviews by other black female metal fans and musicians. The theme is clear: if you're a black woman into metal, you've probably been maligned or judged at least once at a show.

"I think that in a free society it's impossible to prevent all bad things from happening, but we can certainly try. I think we have to do everything in our power to ensure what happened in Sandy Hook, and similar instances in the past, never happens again or else all those people will have died in vain," Justin Brannan, guitarist for New York hardcore groups Indecision and Most Precious Blood, tells Noisecreep.

Brannan is passionate about gun control and believes governmental action must be taken to stop future mass killings.

In addition to his music cred, Brannan is also President of the Bay Ridge Democrats, a Democratic political club in Brooklyn. He also serves as City Councilman Vincent Gentile's Communications Director. Gentile represents District 43, which includes southwest Brooklyn neighborhoods Bay Ridge, Bath Beach, Dyker Heights and sections of Bensonhurst.

"Whether it's a conversation about gun control, mental health or security in our schools - there might not be any one panacea - but the time for national action is definitely right now," continues Brannan. "I think we all want our children to be safe in school. We all want to go to a movie or the mall without fear that some lunatic will open fire on us. Let's do whatever we can to make it as hard as possible for people to commit mass murder. If semi-automatic weapons make it easy for people to commit mass murder, then something needs done there. There's no useful purpose for semi-automatic rifles other than mass killing. These are weapons similar to the ones used by troops in Afghanistan."

On March 26, Sevendust will unleash their ninth studio album Black Out the Sun. The album provides a raw and dark look into adulthood from the perspective of the five men who comprise the band. The Sevendust screams are there. The melodic tendencies are there. And Black Out the Sun even offers a track complete with an old-school '80s guitar vibe. That track, "Got a Feeling" encapsulates the album's entire theme in a handful of hard rocking minutes. And there's nothing contrived here.

"I woke up not so long ago, and I just felt like 'You know what, I'm older. Life's obstacles have become so much more obscure. But it's not going to deter me, disturb me, from my faith,'" Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon tells Noisecreep. "At the end of the day, everything gets better in time. At least, I hope. That's my new outlook."

Fans of Otep know one thing for certain: namesake and frontwoman Otep Shamaya always speaks her mind. It's no surprise, then, that Ms. Shamaya isn't shy in explaining her decision to make the band's new album Hydra its last. Ending Otep wasn't an easy decision, but one made out of sheer survival and basic business 101.

"Music's been great for me and given me a wonderful life," Shamaya tells Noisecreep. "The climate has changed in music. The way the industry has responded to pirating. The way it has sort of become part of our culture now. People say 'Pirating is here to stay.' Sure it is and I understand it. I understand it too when artists decide that they need to do something else. I've spent my whole life wanting to be a working artist. I didn't want it to be a hobby. This is what I wanted to do full time.

"People complain some artists leave the genre so they can sell more records. It's just about surviving. I wanted to become a professional, working, living artist. It's hard to devote a decade of your life to something. Before Hydra even came out, it was on YouTube because someone who had an advanced copy leaked it because they felt like being an asshole. We crafted in the studio 18 hours a day for 16 weeks only to see it end up on YouTube for free. We don't make money off YouTube. People say 'We come to your shows. We buy your merch.' I'm very grateful of that. But you're supporting the tour then. You're supporting fuel, transportation and food and salaries for the crew.

This Sunday, all eyes will be on New Orleans as the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers battle it out in the Super Bowl. In addition to the game, people also tune in for the ultra-pricey commercials and the big halftime show.

This year, Beyoncé will perform at halftime. This lip-sync drama got us thinking: who would be better at this year's Super Bowl halftime show?

"We want to make sure that lyrically the topics are fresh, natural and real," singer Leigh Kakaty of Pop Evil tells Noisecreep. The Michigan-based rock band is back in the studio. And this time they are making a record on their terms.

"We're more skilled at who we are as people and more skilled and focused on where we are as a band. We know our audience. We know our fans. We're going to make a record for them this time," Kakaty explains.

For Pop Evil, life pretty much begins and ends on the road. In all, the band played 250 shows in 2012. Instead of taking an extended break, the band rushed right back into the studio to begin work on a follow-up to War of Angels.

In just two weeks studio time, the band created the foundation for eight new songs. Kakaty admits the band is "cruising," and that the collaborative process of songwriting is going better than expected.

Amid the media swirl surrounding possible gun control measures after the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre just last month, many pro-gun advocates are speaking out. "Let's talk about 'assault' rifles for a second. Anti-gun advocates in the media placing all the emphasis on the word 'ASSAULT' for a reason. It sounds menacing to those who don't know much about weapons, and this particular word also embodies the concepts of 'first strike' and 'aggression'... and the media just loooves that. The fact IS, however - a rifle is an inanimate object with no free will or intent on its own. It doesn't plan to assault anyone... So really, this is all just playing with words.... If I called my rifle a 'defensive rifle' - it wouldn't throw up the red flag - and in reality THAT'S WHAT IT IS. I have it for defensive measures so that's what it should be called. A 'defensive rifle.'"

Ted Nugent is back at it.

The classic rocker is known for his love of hunting, guns and conservative politics. Now he's throwing one of the most important names of the Civil Rights era into the gun control debate raging in Washington, D.C.: Rosa Parks.

That's right. When asked about possible gun control measures currently being discussed among lawmakers, Nugent replied, "There will come a time when the gun owners of America, the law-abiding gun owners of America, will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed."

Parks refused to give up her seat in the "colored" section of the Montgomery, Ala. bus she was riding on to a white passenger after the "white" section was full.

Nugent made the comment to WND, a conservative website.

According to Vice President Joe Biden, President Barack Obama is considering taking executive action on gun control issues.

There isn't much metal about traditional Christmas music. Lucky for us, many of our favorite artists have made their own holiday tunes to make the end of the year a little more brutal. Some of our favorite bands have even recorded covers of holiday classics as well. You know, just in case you want to spin a couple of more familiar tunes while you open presents are your parents house. No need to offend mom on Christmas.
Today, Noisecreep highlights some of the best hard rock and metal holiday tunes to keep your holiday rocking!

This one is for the ladies! For decades, the men of metal have objectified women in music videos, photo shoots and stage shows. Now, not every man of metal is a misogynist - quite the contrary. But still, sex sells and scantily clad women have just become synonymous with the genre.
Today, the women of metal have their revenge! Behold, a countdown of some of the hottest men of metal and hard rock.

Famed Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora is headed to TV... at least for a short amount of time.

Sambora will be Craig Ferguson's house band on The Late Late Show the week of Dec. 3. Sambora was a guest on the show earlier this month and Ferguson floated the idea, saying that Sambora should do music for the show, perhaps playing a tiny harp... while naked. Sambora said he'd be happy to be Ferguson's house band for the week, but he'd be clothed while performing... and he'll be playing a guitar, too.

This will be the first time The Late Late Show has ever had a regular house band.

Sambora will perform songs from his recently released third solo album, Aftermath of the Lowdown, plus Bon Jovi tunes.

The Late Late Show airs weeknights on CBS. Check your local listing for broadcast times.

When Great White released Elation earlier this year, the band wasn't just celebrating a new release, it was also celebrating officially welcoming a new singer to the fold. The group formally selected Terry Ilous (also of XYZ) as its new frontman, replacing Jack Russell due to what the band calls "addiction issues." For guitarist Mark Kendall, there was no one else to fill Jack's shoes but Terry.

"You know when Jack couldn't come back (from being on sabbatical due to illness); Terry had already been in the band like for a year and a half. He had done over 80 shows (with Great White), and we were in love with the guy. So it was never even talked about auditioning. Terry was always our choice. He fit with our music so well, and he is such a joy to be around. I cannot believe this guy, he is really a good person. You know he's a humanitarian too.

"He's the type of guy that wants to save the whales and stuff. So he's really, really a super person, and where I'm at in my life... he's the perfect guy for me to be around. He's so gifted, he's so talented. This guy sings live every night and you never hear a bad note. I mean, he literally has all this range, and he just performs like it's the last performance of his life or something," explains Kendall.

Los Angeles-based and U.K. born guitarist Marino De Silva faces up to eight years in jail for scamming investors out of millions. De Silva told the investors he had unreleased tracks by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Carlos Santana and The Rolling Stones. De Silva also claimed to be a famous producer and said he was going to remaster and release the "unreleased" tracks in his possession.

According to Classic Rock magazine, De Silva claimed to be a Grammy winner, a close friend of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and producer of charity CDs. One problem: De Silva never actually gave the money he raised to the charities he was supposedly helping. An April 2012 story posted on a website from De Silva's hometown says the guitarist took people for millions, using his Angels on Earth Foundation as a front. Some of the causes he said he was raising money for including wounded American troops and kids with autism.

When investors began flocking to De Silva after he made his pitch regarding the unreleased Hendrix, Stones, Santana and Beatles tracks, checks poured in. Investigators are now referring to it all as a Ponzi scheme. That is, De Silva kept moving money around, giving investors tiny portions owed to them all the while spending the rest of the cash.

According to court documents, Dr. Baldi unintentionally caused Gray's death by writing "high-dose prescription narcotics to a known drug addict" starting on December 27, 2005.
Baldi faces four medical malpractice lawsuits, including three wrongful death suits. The three deaths in those lawsuits were among the eight cited in the criminal charges. The Iowa Board of Medicine also filed administrative charges against Baldi last month. Among the administrative charges, the board alleges that the doctor wrote prescriptions for large amounts of narcotics without properly assessing patient need.
