"It's going to be a blast. It's pretty damn cool for us," vocalist and guitarist Eddie Veliz says of his band's Rock on the Range slot. "We're a little band from Los Angeles getting to do all these cool things with really awesome bands. We're very excited."
While the band will be performing for thousands this weekend, the vision of Kyng wasn't always so cut and dry. In fact, Kyng really wasn't supposed to exist at all.

"What is crazy about Kyng is that it was my last hurrah," admits Veliz. "You know, I had a steady job doing my thing. Tony (Castaneda, bass) and I had always talked about getting another band together and it was a side project for a moment but as we started writing music, it just kept getting better and better and we decided that we should try to play in front of people instead of just sitting around. We went at it, stuck to our guns and it started to snowball into a tiny machine that is getting bigger."

Swedish hard rock heroes Crazy Lixx will release their third album, Riot Avenue, on April 24. The album features a grittier sound and a new second guitarist named Edd Liam.

"Edd really fits in well! Great guitar player and friend... it started back after the New Religion album, that's when we knew we needed more guitars so that's when Edd joined," explains Crazy Lixx guitarist Andy Dawson. "Edd's been playing with us live for almost two years now and this third album was his first with the band and it turned out great."

Forming in 2002, Crazy Lixx have a throwback '80s vibe, but that doesn't mean they are not current. Dawson knows the band gets compared to '80s mega-stars like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, and takes it all in stride... while keeping true to his band's own vision.

It's been an amazing year for James Durbin. The vocalist rose to fame during season 10 of American Idol, continually spouting the phrase "give metal a chance." After American Idol wrapped for the season, Durbin landed a record deal with Wind-up and began crafting his debut album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster.

Now, Durbin is ready to take his show on the road, walk the black carpet at the Golden Gods and serve as a role model for kids.

Durbin will serve as a spokesperson for the be a STAR Alliance, an anti-bullying initiative, co-founded by The Creative Coalition and WWE. Durbin is a rabid wrestling fan so the partnership makes sense. Living with Asperger's and Tourette's Syndrome and being relentlessly bullied while in school helps Durbin relate to kids on a personal level.

Dave Mustaine sure has said some whoppers in his day. He's famous for being the creator of Megadeth. Mustaine is famous for being kicked out of Metallica. And yeah, he's even famous for being a born-again Christian. Famous folk have to watch what they say, because every word can be scrutinized. Turns out, Mustaine doesn't seem to care and just says whatever he feels.

Today, Noisecreep takes a look at some of Mustaine's most controversial comments.

"People have their expectations and their vision of what Candlebox is," singer Kevin Martin tells Noisecreep. "For me, it's always been changing so 20 years went by so quickly. We've had great times and God-awful times."

Today is one of the good times. Love Stories & Other Musings, the Seattle band's first new album in four years, finally hits stores today. The record features nine new songs, plus five bonus tracks which are re-recordings of the band's biggest hits like "Far Behind" and "Cover Me."

"We had two directions we wanted to go," Martin explains of the re-recording process of "Far Behind." "Do we want to play it the way we usually play it, or do we want to play the new version? When we weigh and pros and cons of everything... when we did the original version, that was a demo that was done a year before we recorded our record for Maverick. We tried to reproduce the song in the studio for the first album. The label came back and said, 'We love the attempt but the original version from the demo is much better.' I think that was always in the back of our minds and it's probably been there for the past 20 years. That demo was, for some reason, magical. We wondered if we could go back in the studio now, have fun with it, better it."

"I think music is always changing and mutating and I really love how it turned out for us," Charm City Devils singer John Allen tells Noisecreep about the band's newest single, a cover of the folk classic "Man of Constant Sorrow."

Most people know "Man of Constant Sorrow" from the movie Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, but the song existed long before George Clooney lip-synched to Dan Tyminski's vocal track.

The cover is the first single from the new album SINS which will be released electronically on April 10.

"Man of Constant Sorrow" dates back to the early 1900s, possibly earlier. This isn't regular territory for a modern rock band. That's exactly what drew Baltimore-based Charm City Devils to the tune.

""Evil Tsar" was written to be a crowd-pleaser," guitarist "Evil" Jon Clark tells Noisecreep. "Up to that point we had a lot of really great material but when I started writing the music for "Tsar," the goal was to really go all out in terms of intensity and virtuosic chops."
"At the end of the day the breakup of the original five guys lies on all of us," Skid Row guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo says in a recent chat with Legendary Rock Interviews. "It was the way we all reacted to each other, it was the things we said and did at that point in time."

Sabo laid it all on the line recently when discussing his current career as a band manager, guitarist and his relationship with former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach. From Snake's point of view, a changing music landscape helped create a rift between Bach and the rest of the band and the differences became too apparent to ignore.

"I think a lot of times what happens a lot times in these situations is that people's idiosyncrasies or characters can become masked or hidden when you are experiencing a certain degree of success. When that success starts to fade certain character issues will come out and rear their head be it in a positive way or a negative way."

When prompted, Snake recalled some of the most contentious times with Bach, including the day the band split from the famed frontman.

There are a few things de rigueur for '80s metal videos: big hair, leather... and a hot girl (or three). Sometimes those video girls morphed into full-fledged vixens and became almost as famous as the bands they loved to hang out with backstage! Usually the girls remained nameless, pretty faces... but in a few cases, the video stars crossed over from popular culture to actual stardom. Today, Noisecreep looks back at a few of the biggest '80s video vixens and tells you where they are now.

"It was so much fun. That's why we want to do it again and that's why we'll do it every time," In This Moment guitarist Chris Howorth tells Noisecreep about his band playing ShipRocked. "I'll totally rearrange our schedule around it, whatever we have to do. Going in to it, had no idea how much fun it would be and how cool it would be."

In This Moment is just one of the many confirmed bands that will rock the high seas this November as part of the fourth annual ShipRocked cruise. In addition to In This Moment, Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch, P.O.D., Sevendust, Filter, Fuel, Black Stone Cherry, Lit, Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns N' Roses) are all confirmed and more bands will be added. The cruise is set for Nov. 27 - Dec. 1.

"Where else can you get four days and four nights of great bands from Florida to the Bahamas floating out at sea? We can't wait to play the 4th Annual ShipRocked! This is gonna rule!" Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer tells Noisecreep.

Since In This Moment are ShipRocked alums, they know exactly what to expect when it comes to rock n' roll cruising.

To say the members of Aerosmith have a contentious relationship is not breaking news, but fans may have been shocked at just how tense things can get between the legendary rockers.

CBS news profiled the band for '60 Minutes,' allowing journalist Lara Logan special access to each member. She also traveled with the band on their recent South American tour, capturing live show footage for the piece.

Other than brief mentions of the band's 40 years together, drug abuse and success, most of the piece focused on lead singer Steven Tyler and his relationship with the rest of the band.

"He wouldn't be on that show if he wasn't in the band, being part of Aerosmith," guitarist Joe Perry said when asked about Steven Tyler's position as a judge on 'American Idol.'

While most reporters who interview Tyler end up focusing solely on his 'American Idol' gig, Logan resisted, instead focusing more on the intricate emotions of each band member. When talking about Tyler, Logan reports "...He is obsessive about the band, and its music. He pushes them for perfection."

Politics is very en vogue among rockers these days. First, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe announced his bid for President, then Dave Mustaine endorsed Rick Santorum for President and now Joe Escalante of the punk band The Vandals is running for elected office, too. Escalante, an entertainment lawyer by day, and bass player by night, is campaigning to be a judge in L.A. County. Escalante, 49, earned his law degree from Loyola in Los Angeles.

Escalante, a conservative, is currently a volunteer temporary judge. He's been logging hundreds of hours behind the bench since 2009, presiding over small claims, traffic, unlawful detainer, limited civil, and limited criminal matters.

To officially become a full-fledged judge and earn a paycheck for presiding over cases, Escalante must be elected to the position. The election is June 5 and Escalante is reaching out to voters via an official campaign Facebook page.

From 2006-2008, Escalante was the host of 'The Last of the Famous International Morning Shows,' a popular drive-time radio show on Indie 103.1 FM in Los Angeles. These days, he can be heard on Sundays 5:00 to 7:00 PM on KTLK AM 1150 in Los Angeles, and Fridays at 11:00AM PST on indie1031.com at 2:00 PM on Radio Weezer where he dispenses free legal advice for artists and entertainers. Escalante also co-owns Kung Fu records with fellow Vandals member Warren Fitzgerald.
A gifted musician, Lillman also played guitar, bass and keyboards. He served as drummer for the 2009 Dimebag Beyond Forever tour and was an active studio musician. Lillman cited jazz fusion drummer Dave Weckl among his many influences.

Michaels and Lynn will re-record the Poison classic 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' which was a number one hit for the Sunset Strip demigods in 1988. The remake of 'Rose' will be included as a bonus track on Michaels' upcoming album 'Get Your Rock On.' Turns out the duet was Lynn's idea. The unlikely pair spent Thanksgiving together and she suggested the duet.

"One of the ideas she had was redoing 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' and I thought it would be unbelievable for me and her to do that together," Michaels told Rolling Stone in a recent interview.
Michaels is a big country music fan but 'Get Your Rock On' won't be all twang. Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, My Darkest Days guitarist Sal Costa and Jimmy Buffett will also guest on the record.

Alan Meltzer Leaves $1.5 Million to Chauffeur, Doorman: Wind-Up Records Founder's Ex-Wife Not Happy

Being the founder of a successful record label usually means earning good coin. Such was the case for Alan Meltzer, the former chairman and co-founder of Wind-Up Records. In addition to having an ear for music, he also had a taste for gambling and became a very successful high-stakes poker player.

When the 67-year-old died back on Halloween last year, he left behind a 10 million dollar estate. Meltzer formed the label with his wife Diana after purchasing indie label Grass Records. Together, they helped grow the company, signing such bands as Creed and Seether. Wind-Up is now the largest independently owned record label in the world.

Things didn't work out with Meltzer and his wife. She left him and he retreated to two service workers for kindness and compassion. During the split, Meltzer routinely confided in chauffeur Jean Laborde and doorman Chamil Demiraj. After his death, Meltzer left a million bucks to Laborde and a cool $500,000 to Demiraj.

"I appreciate it," Demiraj said recently in a New York Post article about the inheritance. "He was a generous guy. He was a really good friend of mine, and I was a good friend of his. It's a surprise. Peace and rest to him. That's all I can say."
