Chris Bailey, bassist for Australian rock act The Angels, has passed away after battling throat cancer. He was 62. Noisecreep reported in January that the musician had been fighting the disease for some time.

The band took to Twitter last night to let fans know that Bailey had died, posting several videos in tribute to their fallen brother.

Back in 1976, the Angels' then-bassist, Doc Neeson, took on the role of lead singer. This solidified the Aussie group's lineup, backed by brothers Rick and John Brewster. Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi has been arrested for heroin possession. According to TMZ, the rocker's 19-year-old offspring was found unresponsive in a dorm room at Hamilton College, where she apparently overdosed.

The Kirkland, N.Y. Police Department found a "small amount" of heroin alongside the singer's daughter. Other drug paraphernalia and marijuana was also found at the scene.

On Sept. 25, San Diego modern metal behemoths As I Lay Dying released Awakened, their sixth studio album. Produced by Bill Stevenson (Rise Against, NOFX), debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #11, selling over 28,000 copies in it's first week in the U.S. alone. An incredible feat for a band playing an uncompromisingly heavy brand of metal.

While they were recently in town to play a record release show, Noisecreep invited As I Lay Dying over to our East Coast offices in Manhattan to chat about the album, the state of the music business, their workout habits and a rumor that has been following them around lately.

So you guys brought on Descendents drummer Bill Stevenson to produce Awakened. Most people think of punk rock when his names comes up.

Tim Lambesis: I think he's enough outside the box but he gets underground music still. And that's the whole idea. Someone that comes from the punk world - Black Flag and Descendents was heavy music in his time - definitely much different than what we do. He thinks in term of song structures and the big picture, not the little nuances of our genre that we get stuck in sometimes. Eddie Van Halen has undergone emergency surgery for a "severe bout" of the bowel disease diverticulitis. The guitarist's recently reunited band has since cancelled their upcoming tour of Japan to wait for Van Halen to recover.

The band took to their Facebook page to tell fans about Eddie's scary trip to the hospital, stating he is expected to have a full recovery within four to six months. However, as Consequence of Sound points out, the band has been forced to cancel all upcoming tour dates.

Former Misfits frontman Michale Graves has been arrested for possessing marijuana. According to Blabbermouth, the singer was traveling through a border checkpoint Monday (July 23) in Texas when six grams of weed were discovered in his vehicle.

Graves was taken into custody by the Kingsville Sheriff's Dept. and charged with a misdemeanor. He was held overnight, missing a scheduled show at Lips Lounge in El Paso, Texas.

The singer was released late Tuesday afternoon on $750 bond. With the passing of legendary TV personality Dick Clark, many artists are beginning to reflect on what the man meant to them, especially Alice Cooper. Thanks to Clark, Cooper took an interesting new career path.

"I used to come home from elementary school to watch "American Bandstand." It had all the new songs, all the new dances and it had the happiest guy in the world presenting them to you," the rocker writes on his website.

Wes Scantlin, the lead singer of hard rock act Puddle of Mudd, has been charged with felony cocaine possession. As Noisecreep previously reported, Scantlin was picked up for purchase of a controlled substance back in January of 2012 -- just weeks after being charged with $60,000 in back taxes.

When cops stopped Sanctlin in LA for a traffic violation they found pills and powder in the singer's vehicle. Now, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is involved, investigating what the controlled substance actually was: Cocaine. Scantlin's charge has since been upgraded to a felony.

The singer is also charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license. As Noisecreep previously reported, Black Sabbath are reuniting for a whirlwind tour and brand new album. However, recent developments may completely derail the project. The band's original drummer Bill Ward has apparently been given an "unsignable" contract. The metal legend has since written to fans on his blog of why he is unable to adequately contribute to the new Sabbath project, much to his own chagrin:

Metal music and horror films go together like bread and butter. Alice Cooper's cameo in the campy 'Monster Dog' and Rob Zombie's comprehensive work in the genre have further adjoined hard rock and horror as artistic cousins. Now Loudwire reports that Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan will make his acting debut in an upcoming thriller.

'The Devil's Carnival' recently wrapped shooting on Jan. 18, and will feature the Slipknot drummer alongside Ogre from Skinny Puppy in a theme park-based flick from hell. The film is intended to be in addendum to 'Repo! The Genetic Opera,' director Darren Lynn Bousman's last musical venture.

"I am very honored to have been asked to be a part of this project," Crahan tells Loudwire. "I play a character called The Tamer. Nickelback have been through the ringer lately. Since playing the Thanksgiving Day halftime show at the annual Lions/Packers football game, the band has been attacked all over the social media universe. As our colleagues at Spinner recently reported, Bruce 'The Boss' Springsteen will be releasing his 17th album 'Wrecking Ball' March 6 via Columbia records. Lady Gaga has revealed to U.K.'s The Sun that one of her biggest influences is Def Leppard. Wait ... Def Leppard? Yes, that's correct. Apparently Phil Collen and co. have helped shape Gaga's early artist-hood by finding their way into the singer's stadium-sized hooks.

Whitesnake's David Coverdale isn't a bad guy at all. So why would someone want to steal from the venerable frontman and his 'Here I Go Again' fortune? Because money is king, ladies and gentlemen. As the Reno Gazette-Journal reports, former Coverdale friend and associate Eric Hosmer has been sent directly to jail for embezzling more than $287,000 from the singer and his wife Cindy.

The couple told authorities that Hosner stole right under their noses by submitting fake invoices to Coverdale's accounting firm for payment. Judge Patrick Flanagan has sentenced the 44-year-old Hosmer to 6-months hard time and ordered him to pay $69,000 in restitution. And to add insult to injury, the Coverdale's treated Hosmer "like family." But now they are insistent he is a "deceiver, liar and thief."

According to Blabbermouth, said thief had been arrested by the Washoe County, Nev. Sheriff's office back in March (2011) when he was first charged with stealing. For those of you that don't know the incredibly ambitious axe man, here's a bit of history. Back in 1984, an underground mockumentary starring Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean was released nationwide. 'This Is Spinal Tap' followed the American tour of a British metal act on the verge of obscurity. Unfortunately, just like the band, the movie didn't become a huge hit in its time, but eventually built a cult following that has culminated in today's special holiday.

Hard rock's most infamous marauder and only remaining member of Guns N' Roses, Axl Rose, will give his most intimate interview in years on VH1's 'That Metal Show.' Season 9 of the series will air in conjunction with National Metal Day (11/11/11) and will showcase the biggest names in classic and new school metal. The first episode features beleaguered frontman Axl Rose and new Guns N' Roses lead guitarist Dj Ashba talking about the band's return to the road and the meaning behind 'Sweet Child of Mine,' 'Welcome to the Jungle' and other Roses hits. It's Rose's first television interview in a decade.

Veteran hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine sat down with the dynamic duo shortly after Guns N' Roses rocked Orlando this past Oct. 29. The result is said to be a revelatory interview, full of metal lore and Rose's true thoughts on the history of his band.

Make sure to tune into 'That Metal Show,' Friday Nov. 11 and 11PM ET. This season is looking quite promising with Slash, Brian Johnson, Dave Mustaine, Marilyn Manson, Paul Rodgers and Andrew Dice Clay making stops by the VH1 show's set.
