With Halo of Blood, their eighth studio album, hitting stores on June 11, Children of Bodom have issued a new track called "Transference" to whet our appetites. Check out the track here.

The Finnish metal beasts recorded Halo of Blood with longtime engineer Mikko Karmila and Hypocrisy mainman Peter Tägtgren who also worked with Children of Bodom on their Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll albums.

"'Transference' has an evil vibe to it which I wish I knew how to explain because it still gives me chills," says Children of Bodom guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho. "This is one of our favorite tracks from the new album. Enjoy!"

After flooring hard rock fans with And Hell Will Follow Me, their 2011 debut album, A Pale Horse Named Death proved that they were more than a mere side project type of affair. Featuring Sal Abruscato (drummer of Life of Agony, Type O Negative fame) on vocals/guitars, guitarist Matt Brown (Seventh Void), drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Danzig), and guitarist Eddie Heedles, A Pale Horse Named Death deliver a Sabbathy brew of air guitar-ready riffs and hooky vocal melodies.

On May 21, A Pale Horse Named Death will return with Lay My Soul to Waste, their sophomore album. Noisecreep has the pleasure of bringing you the exclusive premiere of "Killer By Night," a track off the album.

"'Killer By Night' is pretty much the sequel for the song 'Serial Killer' off of the first album," Abrucsato tells Noisecreep. "It's a continuing story of a killer living a double life with multiple personality disorder. It's one of my favorite songs we've ever done."

Far mastermind Jonah Matranga and Rival Schools guitarist Ian Love have combined their talents in a new project they've dubbed I Is Another. You might also recognize the musicians' names from their time in other groups like New End Original, Burn, Cardia, among other projects.

I Is Another will release their debut eponymous release on CD, double 7", and digitally, on June 24. The band describes their sound as combining "distinct gritty shades of Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Cocteau Twins with the vocal intensity of Sunny Day Real Estate and Braid."

We're sold!

"Honestly, we didn't make this record for any other reason than the love of making records," explains vocalist Matranga. "Ian had some tunes that he could hear my voice on, so he sent them over. We really took our time, just tried to make something worth listening to."

Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan has just unveiled his new project, Fight or Flight. Also featuring his Disturbed bandmate, drummer Mike Wengren, and Evans Blue singer Dan Chandler, Fight or Flight will release their debut album, A Life by Design? on July 23r via Warner Bros. Records.

The first single, "First of the Last" will impact radio on May 21. You can preview the track below.

"During our hiatus from Disturbed, the separation anxiety from the fans came rather quickly," explains Donegan. The guitarist began writing songs on his own, and last year connected with Chandler about a possible collaboration. The two emailed each other songs back and forth and met in person whenever Chandler was in Donegan's hometown of Chicago. When they had enough material to record, Donegan turned Wengren and the three entered the studio. Rounding out the lineup is Ra's Sean Corcoran on bass and backing vocals, and Jeremy Jayson on guitar and backing vocals.

"I think the Grammys have spent so much time ignoring heavy metal that we all said, 'screw it,' and started our own awards show," Corey Taylor tells Noisecreep.

The Slipknot and Stone Sour singer is referring to the Golden Gods Awards which will go down on May 2nd at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, an anti-Grammy Awards, if you will. Besides performing at the event, Stone Sour is also up for three awards including Album of the Year for House of Gold & Bones - Part 1, Best Vocalist for Taylor and Best Drummer for Roy Mayorga.

"Golden Gods truly pays honor to our music. The Grammy people will have all of these different categories within different genres, but heavy metal and hard rock have to share one. It's ridiculous. Half the time, the bands nominated in the metal category are brand new or bands that have been around a long time, but for a song that is off some live record. Or they'll nominate someone doing a cover song. It's fucking pathetic. I almost wish our genre didn't even have a category on the Grammys," Taylor complains.

IMAX Corporation and Picturehouse has just announced that Metallica Through the Never, director Nimród Antal's must-see 3D movie featuring the thrash titans, will be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX(R) 3D format and released wide in North America exclusively into IMAX(R) theaters for a one-week engagement starting Friday, Sept. 27. The film will expand into additional theaters on Oct. 4.

Besides Metallica, the film stars Dane DeHaan, a young actor who recently earned rave reviews for his stirring performance in The Place Beyond the Pines. Metallica Through the Never brings together exhilarating live footage and scripted scenes to tell a story in which a roadie of the band (played by DeHaan) is sent out on a mission during Metallica's roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. During his mission, the shit hits the fan.

"IMAX! It doesn't get bigger or cooler than that!" said Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. "For four guys in a rock band of average height, to get a chance to unleash their 3D film on IMAX screens the size of buildings across the country is a mind-blowing thought. 'Hey look, Mom, I'm 50 feet tall (finally!)' There is no better way to experience film and when you throw in the spectacle of music and sound this should amount to an unprecedented, unique and truly next level experience."

Kurt Brecht's voice is thrash. As the vocalist for the highly influential D.R.I., the Texas native helped define the crossover (hardcore punk meets metal) scene of the '80s, leading the way for later groups like Crumbsuckers, Leeway and Municipal Waste.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Stone Sour hit the #10 slot on the hallowed Billboard Album Charts with the release of House of Gold & Bones - Part 2, their fifth studio album. An impressive feat considering hard rock isn't get any kind of real respect on American radio these days, let alone a concept album like the 2-part House of Gold & Bones saga.
To add icing to the cake, the new album even outsold the first part, which came out last October.

Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has teamed up with artist Richard Clark to create a 4-part comic book series to accompany the House of Gold & Bones albums and the multilayered storyline behind it.

With Issue #1 in stores now, Noisecreep has partnered with Stone Sour to give you a sneak peek of two images from Issue #2!

"I once heard a KISS interview where they were in Japan and the interviewer asked them a stupid question. He asked, 'What makes KISS so amazing?' Paul Stanley actually answered, 'You know, a lot of bands are envious of KISS. Actually, I'm envious of KISS.' He seriously said that," laughs comedian and heavy metal fanatic Craig Gass.

Noisecreep is chatting with Gass outside of a coffee shop in Sherman Oaks, Calif. discussing The Worst Comedy Show Ever, his just-released live comedy CD and DVD.

Gass is beloved by Howard Stern fans everywhere from his countless appearances on the hit morning radio show. "I bought Howard's Private Parts book when it came out. I was such a huge fan of his show. Even though I was a nobody then, I somehow still knew that I would one day be part of his show," says Gass. He not only did he become a regular guest on the Stern Show, Gass also wrote comedy material for the King of All Media's smash program.

Besides his stand up comedy and acting on shows like Sex and the City, Gass is also known for his many spot-on celebrity impressions, but it's his take on the God of Thunder that has brought him lots of love in the metal community. "Yeah, Gene Simmons has taken shit too far with a lot of the KISS merchandise stuff like the KISS Koffin and all that, but you got to give him credit for at least having a good sense of humor about everything. I think being able to laugh at yourself gives you staying power.

Album: Dragged Down a Dead End Path
RIYL: Nails, Black Breath, Early Graves

About the band and track:

Colorado's Call of the Void dish out mean, mean, mean hardcore. Signed to Relapse Records, the quartet just released Dragged Down a Dead End Path, their debut long-player. In Steve Vanica, the band possess a singer that sounds like he gargles with Drano and Patrick Alberts' guitar tone is the stuff made of nightmares.

Noisecreep is pleased to bring you a stream of "Headless-Heartless," a bonus track off the new album which was originally written and recorded by Call of the Void's spiritual cousins, the late and great His Hero Is Gone. Clinging to the Tress of a Forest Fire's Ethan McCarthy lends his vocals talents to the track as well.

Before he even released any of his own music, Nader Sadek made his mark on the international metal scene. The Egyptian artist's sculptures and masks made out of petroleum-based silicone sculptures, resembling freshly wounded skin, complete with bruises and swellings, were used by the likes of Mayhem and Sunn 0))).

In 2011, Sader teamed up with current and former members of Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel and others, to create In the Flesh, a thrilling album featuring death metal of the highest order. A visual artist joining forces with a crew of talented musicians could have been one of those high art concepts that fell flat on its face, but it worked.

Later in 2011, Sadek invited some of the musicians from the album, plus current and past members of Aura Noir, Behemoth, Mayhem and Vader, among others, for his first and last live appearance for the In the Flesh material at the famed Santos Party House in New York City.

The performance was captured for Living Flesh, a new live LP + DVD which is streaming and available now at this link. On April 22, Sadek's self-extracted human leather bound LP exhibit will be unveiled at Santos Party House. The event will also include a live screening of the surgical procedure that took place in the making of the "Living Flesh" installment.

Definitely one of the more exciting projects we've come across here in Noisecreep land, we've got our hands on an exclusive video of Sadek creating the cover for Living Flesh.
Formed in Baltimore in 2008, Octaves deliver a frenetic, chaotic and always intense take on hardcore. 2010 saw the group release their critically acclaimed debut album Greener Pastures. After touring the record for the next couple of years, Octaves brought in new guitarist Andrew 'Roo' Russell in the summer of 2012. Russell's inventive playing suited the group well and after initially struggling with the material for their sophomore album, Octaves hit a creative streak.

The fruits of their hard work is evident in Which Way the Wind Blows, their brand new album. Noisecreep has partnered with Bridge Nine Records to bring you a stream of the entire album.

"We spent the three years after our last record was released writing this one, so it's comprised of ten second riffs that were salvaged from 4 minute songs that got scrapped," Octaves vocalist Phil Fosler tells Noisecreep. "Lyrics written well before Greener Pastures was even released. Tracks that spent a year or more waiting for the right guy to add that second guitar. It reflects our influences and experiences and how they've changed over the years. I think if all the new tracks appeared on the record in the order they were written, the progression would be evident. We dig it. Maybe other people will feel that way, too."

Yeah, Phil. We dig it too.

Chi Cheng, the 42-year-old former bassist of Deftones, passed away today (April 13).

Cheng had been under constant medical care since 2008, when he was seriously injured in a car accident in which he was ejected from a vehicle that flipped several times.

Cheng underwent brain surgery and was left in a coma following the incident. He reportedly emerged from the coma at times, although he never regained full consciousness. His situation had improved as recently as February 2012, when he was reportedly in a partially conscious state, able to move certain portions of his body, even though he never fully regained speech or full command of his body.

Following his injury, the band staged several benefit concerts to help Chi's family stay on top of the mounting medical costs.

A member of the Deftones since 1988, Cheng watched the band rise to multi-Platinum status. His final album with the band is 2006's Saturday Night Wrist. Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega has been Cheng's replacement in the Deftones since Cheng's accident.
Cheng's mother has released the following statetement regarding his passing:
