Nebula Bassist Tours for 'The Perfect Rapture'

As Nebula continue on their European tour in support of their latest stunner 'Heavy Psych,' the band has announced an upcoming split seven-inch with their Tee Pee Records labelmates Quest for Fire and a slew of U.S. tour dates starting with SXSW.

Showcasing a brand new track called 'The Perfect Rapture,' bassist Tom Davies tells Noisecreep, "The split seven-inch was actually [frontman Eddie Glass'] idea. We are touring with fellow labelmates Quest For Fire in the spring and thought it would be cool to put out a split seven-inch for the tour."

Though the band's press photo above may indicate the obvious, superhero fans Salem -- Israel's legendary extreme metal outfit that has been putting out internationally recognized demos and albums since 1985 -- are focusing on comic book heroes for their seventh full-length and Pulverised Records debut, 'Playing God and Other Short Stories.'

"The opening track, 'Drums of the Dead,' was inspired by a Hellboy graphic story of the same name," explains drummer Nir Nakav. "It's the first time that Abe Sapien goes on a solo mission, and in the promo picture I'm wearing a shirt that carries the insignia of his bureau. Remaining true to form, the other guys in the band took on characters who 'play god' -- Superman with his ability to reverse time (that is why he can be seen in three different places at the same time on the promo shot) and the Punisher, who kills evildoers."

Parkway Drive's Platinum DVD Sets Tone for 2010 Release

Metalcore quintet Parkway Drive have plans to expand upon their 2009 DVD success with a new album in 2010. Released in August of last year, the Byron Bay, Australia band's 'The DVD' is a semi-documentary. It tells the story of the rise of the Aussie surfers with live footage from their 2008 'Sweatfest' tour, behind the scenes interviews with members (past and present) of the band, as well as testimonials from people like Adam D. of Killswitch Engage and Bret Gurewitz of Bad Religion/ Epitaph Records. The 70-minute story was shot and edited by the band, went gold in it's first week of sales, and it has now been certified platinum in Australia, holding the title of the highest-selling Australian artist music DVD for the year.

Frontman Winston McCall tells Noisecreep about the feat, "It's pretty mind-blowing really, especially considering we are living in the age of file sharing [laughs]. Seriously though, the fact that this many people went out of their way to support something we put so much of ourselves into is amazing. The feedback we have had from people at shows who have watched it has been great. It's a great feeling to know that the message you were trying to send actually got through. Looks like we owe a lot of people a solid new album now; fingers crossed!"

Xasthur Release '2005 Demo' on Hydra Head

Dubbed one of America's "most prolific and unapproachable underground metal musicians" by Billboard, the California-based one-man-black-metal-band Xasthur has been creating dark despair since forming in 1995.

Though the first album came out in 2001, the '2005 Demo' in question is made up of two lost tracks that were completed before 2006's 'Subliminal Genocide' was released. According Xasthur mainman Malefic's label, "in a sense these two previously unavailable recordings come across like a much belated extension of 'Subliminal Genocide.' And that record rules, so that's good news, right?"

Baroness Find Critical Acclaim 'Intimidating and a Little Strange'

As heralded Savannah, Ga. quartet Baroness are underway on their U.S. tour supporting the recently-released 'Blue Record' with Earthless and US Christmas, bassist Summer Welch shares his excitement for the lineup, telling Noisecreep, "Both bands are really solid."

Welch goes on to explain what's next in store for the much-buzzed-about band, who "will be heading over to Europe in mid January" for a headlining tour supporting their new, already acclaimed sophomore album before jumping on a quick tour with Isis in Japan. Marking the band's first trip to the Asian islands, Baroness will also head down under to Australia for the first time in their careers to play the Soundwave Festival alongside artists like Jane's Addiction and Faith No More soon after.

Brutal Truth's Latest Release Recorded in One Take

As an exercise in extreme precision, Brutal Truth have released 'Evolution in One Take: For Grindfreaks Only! Volume 2' earlier this week. The semi-follow-up to their last straight shot, 'For Drug Crazed Grindfreaks Only! Live at Nocturn Studios,' which came out in 2000, this installment was recorded at Mark It Zero studios with sound engineer Dan O'Hare.

The album sees the band play their latest record (and first in nearly a decade) 'Evolution Through Revolution' live and -- you guessed it -- in one take. Packaged with a special limited-edition patch, the album itself is limited to only 2,000 copies worldwide.

Order of Ennead in the Studio -- Video

Florida-based death metal outfit Order Of Ennead have posted a slew of in-studio videos as they record the follow-up to their 2008 self-titled debut. Showcasing clips of drummer Steve Asheim (who also holds down drumming duties for Deicide) giving a tour of his kit and laying down raw tracks for the upcoming Ennead album, the videos not only offer good behind-the-scenes footage, but give fans a chance to hear a few of the tracks so far.

Recording at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Fla., Order of Ennead's tentatively titled 'An Examination of Being' is slated for an April 2010 release on Earache Records.

Convulse's Debut Remastered for Relapse

Now-defunct Finnish death metallers Convulse only released two full-length albums during their short-lived, self-proclaimed "fast and brutal death metal" career. And this January, Relapse Records will be re-releasing their legendary debut with some extras.

Formed in 1988 in Nokia, Finland, Convulse's underground classic 'World Without God' helped pave the way for a new generation of death metal. The album will be re-mastered and repackaged with the band's celebrated 1990 demo ' Resuscitation of Evilness' added into the mix, making both available for the first time in well over a decade.

Creed Frontman's Wife Pregnant With Second Child

Us Magazine is reporting that Creed frontman Scott Stapp and his wife Jaclyn are expecting their second child together next July.

Stapp tells the magazine, "When Jaclyn told me we were having another baby, I was overwhelmed with joy and again reminded what this life is for. We are so thankful for God's blessings."

According to the article, the pair -- who wed in February 2006 -- already have a three-year-old daughter named Milan and an eleven-year-old son, Jagger, who is Stapp's child from a former relationship.

Harvey Milk's Debut Remastered for Proper Release

Also known as the infamous 'Bob Weston Sessions,' Harvey Milk's should-have-been debut album was recorded in Chicago in the early '90s for 227 Records, and then it was shelved for reasons unbeknownst to the public.

Recognizing that the album never received a proper release, the folks at Hydra Head Records have gotten their hands on the official masters, reworked them with Harvey Milk mastermind Creston Spiers, and will be releasing a remastered version of Harvey Milk's debut album this January.

As if the legendary re-pairing of Slayer and Megadeth for the upcoming American Carnage tour wasn't enough, the new year will bring yet another killer concert lineup for thrash masters Slayer when they join Metallica, Anthrax and Mastodon at Sonisphere 2010 in Poland next summer. Marking the band's return to the European festival circuit, Slayer will also make an appearance at Sonisphere Knebworth in 2010 -- a three-day U.K. festival set to feature Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Anthrax, the Cult and much more.

Supporting their widely received November release 'World Painted Blood,' Slayer's 11th studio album debuted at an impressive 12 on the Billboard 200, and the track 'Hate Worldwide' has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Metal Performance category -- a title they've won for the last two years.

Charred Walls of the Damned Announce New Album

As the Richard Christy masterminded project Charred Walls of the Damned gets ready to release their self-titled debut on Metal Blade Records Feb. 2, the supergroup of sorts are giving rabidly waiting fans their first taste of it with 'Ghost Town.' While the lead single hits digital retailers today, Christy -- a radio personality and comic -- has another offer in the form of a goofy 'promo spot' he created for the band's MySpace. Featuring clips of 'Ghost Town', the spot also gives an introduction of who's who in the band: Richard Christy, Jason Suecof, Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Steve Digiorgio.

Drummer/founder Christy comments, "I am beyond excited about how the Charred Walls of the Damned album turned out. Tim, Steve and Jason all did an amazing job and I can't wait for people to hear it! The songs are super heavy and melodic at the same time, and I think my fellow metalheads will be pumped when they hear the album."

Massachusetts metallers All That Remains have recorded a new video for the album version of their latest single 'Forever in Your Hands.' Having previously released a video for the radio edit of the song, the band took a second stab at it by shooting a new version on this past summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest.

Shot at the Washington, D.C. stop on the tour, the video was directed by David Brodsky, who has also worked with Unearth, the Black Dahlia Murder and Suicide Silence, and features guest appearances by some of ATR's close friends and tourmates like Killswitch Engage's Adam D. and Joel Stroetzal, God Forbid's Byron Davis and Doc Coyle and the Black Dahlia Murder's Shannon Lucas.

Iraqi metal band Acrassicauda's difficult journey (documented in 2007's film 'Heavy Metal Baghdad') sees a triumphant light at the end of the tunnel while the New York City-residing refugees announce the completion of their debut EP, 'Only the Dead See the End of the War.'

Bon Jovi Is Number One

Released just last week, Bon Jovi's 11th studio album 'The Circle' marks the band's fourth number one debut on the U.S. album charts. While SoundScan shows 163,000 copies sold during the album's inaugural week, the number one position championed by 'The Circle' is the band's second chart-topping debut in a row, with their last album 'Lost Highway' moving 292,000 copies in its first week to win the spot in 2007.

The band's other number one albums include 1986's 'Slippery When Wet' and 1988's 'New Jersey,' but the group has had 10 albums in the top 10, which, with 'The Circle' marking their 11th, means every album released by the band since 1986 has landed in the upper echelon of the Billboard 200.

Detroit's young death metal outfit And Hell Followed With are sticking it out on the troubled Be Shred or Be Dead Tour. Supposed to feature Sea of Treachery, Suffokate, Blind Witness and Destruction of a Rose alongside Earache Records' latest newcomers, the Malus Clothing-sponsored run has hit some major snags.

Underway since mid-October, the tour has lost two of the main bands on the bill: Suffokate and Sea of Treachery. Commenting on the situation, And Hell Followed With's guitarist Kyle McIlmurray explains, "One band left because they were offered another tour that they couldn't refuse, and we all understood that. We wish them well. The other guys though? Well let's just say that we have no remorse for these bands who come out and whine while they're riding in a new van with a new trailer and make $300 a night. Right now we're a few thousand miles away from home, trying to make it on $100 a night or less."

Dio Cancels Tour, Ronnie James Dio Hospitalized

Due to Dio frontman and namesake vocalist Ronnie James Dio becoming ill, the band has canceled their upcoming European tour. Set to kick off this weekend in Scotland and run throughout December, as of now the canceled dates will not be rescheduled. While the details of Dio's illness are not yet known, the revered vocalist's wife/ manager Wendy Dio states, "Ronnie has been hospitalized and we are waiting for further news."

Known for his astounding vocals, Dio led Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore in the '70s, post-Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath in the '80s and his own band Dio soon after, who share members (see: drummer Vinny Appice) with recent Dio-era Black Sabbath redux Heaven & Hell.

As Vader continue on their headlining Monsters of Death Tour alongside Decrepit Birth, Warbringer, the Amenta, S.W.W.A.A.T.S. and Augury that kicked off Nov. 4, frontman Piotr Wiwczarek offers part one of the long-running Polish death metal outfit's tour diary.

Shot during the band's second stop on the massive 38-city North American run, Wiwczarek invites fans to "join us or die" from outside of the Palladium in the "freezing hell" of Worcester, Mass. Live footage of the band performing 'Never Say My Name' -- off of their eighth studio album, and first for Nuclear Blast, 'Necropolis' -- then ensues.

Vader were formed in 1983 and have albums featured on various notable metal labels like Earache, Metal Blade, Regain and now Nuclear Blast. The Monsters of Death Tour marks the band's first major trek in the U.S. since 2008's Summer Slaughter.
