Jason Bonham, the son of late Led Zeppelin basher, John Bonham, has made a career of keeping his father's legacy alive. So, it's surprising when he says he didn't always want to be a drummer.

"Growing up my heroes were American motocross riders," he tells Spinner. "I didn't want to be a drummer; I wanted to be a motocross rider."

Eventually, Jason, who has been playing drums since age four, relented and drifted into a music career. He's enjoyed moderate success with bands such as Virginia Wolf, Bonham, and Black Country Communion, but he is best known for his work with his father's old band.

He's filled in for his old man at a couple of shaky Led Zeppelin reunions, and manned the throne for the group's triumphant concert at London's O2 Arena in 2007. (That performance was captured on the recent DVD Celebration Day.)

Partway into his set at Toronto's Heavy TO festival on August 11, Marilyn Manson apologized to all Canadians for a quip he made during a recent interview with the U.K. website Entertainment Wise. He also clarified his relationship status with the sk8er girl.

When asked to confirm rumors that he was dating singer Avril Lavigne, he denied any link to the Canadian pop-punk princess and pissed off her compatriots in the process.

"Fuck that, she's Canadian," he had said in the interview, insinuating he would never sleep with a lowly Canuck.

Last night, however, he apologized and explained his comments to thousands of metal fans.

Back in 2011, when thousands of birds fell from the sky and millions of fish washed up on shore in freak die-offs across North America, most people were happy to accept the media's flimsy scientific explanations.

Serj Tankian, the Lebanese-born Armenian-American solo artist and frontman for Grammy-Award winning hard rock band System of a Down, didn't take these events lightly.

The ominous incidents moved him, so he did what songwriters do; he wrote a song.

That track "Harakiri," the Japanese word for ritual suicide, is the title track from his third solo release out July 10 on Reprise Records.

Tankian is an interesting guy. While most hard rockers are content to swill beer and flip devil horns, he spends his down time writing books of poetry, meeting with the heads of state, and promoting social justice via the Axis of Justice, the non-for profit organization he co-founded with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello.
