Fight or Flight: Disturbed Guitarist, Drummer Hook Up With Evans Blue Singer for New Project (LISTEN)

Ethan Miller, Getty Images

Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan has just unveiled his new project, Fight or Flight. Also featuring his Disturbed bandmate, drummer Mike Wengren, and Evans Blue singer Dan Chandler, Fight or Flight will release their debut album, A Life by Design? on July 23r via Warner Bros. Records.

The first single, "First of the Last" will impact radio on May 21. You can preview the track below.

"During our hiatus from Disturbed, the separation anxiety from the fans came rather quickly," explains Donegan. The guitarist began writing songs on his own, and last year connected with Chandler about a possible collaboration. The two emailed each other songs back and forth and met in person whenever Chandler was in Donegan's hometown of Chicago. When they had enough material to record, Donegan turned Wengren and the three entered the studio. Rounding out the lineup is Ra's Sean Corcoran on bass and backing vocals, and Jeremy Jayson on guitar and backing vocals.

Corey Taylor on His Love/Hate Relationship With Los Angeles, Why He Thinks the Grammys Are a Joke

David Wolff - Patrick, Redferns

"I think the Grammys have spent so much time ignoring heavy metal that we all said, 'screw it,' and started our own awards show," Corey Taylor tells Noisecreep.

The Slipknot and Stone Sour singer is referring to the Golden Gods Awards which will go down on May 2nd at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, an anti-Grammy Awards, if you will. Besides performing at the event, Stone Sour is also up for three awards including Album of the Year for House of Gold & Bones – Part 1, Best Vocalist for Taylor and Best Drummer for Roy Mayorga.

"Golden Gods truly pays honor to our music. The Grammy people will have all of these different categories within different genres, but heavy metal and hard rock have to share one. It's ridiculous. Half the time, the bands nominated in the metal category are brand new or bands that have been around a long time, but for a song that is off some live record. Or they'll nominate someone doing a cover song. It's fucking pathetic. I almost wish our genre didn't even have a category on the Grammys," Taylor complains.

Rapper Scarface Dreams of Starting a Band With Gene Simmons (VIDEO)

Rapper Scarface has a dream collaborator and it's none other than KISS bassist Gene Simmons. Because, well, who wouldn't want to work with the God of Thunder? Scarface even has designs on an all-star rock band.

"I don't even know when my next album is going to come out, but I am going to make a rock 'n' roll album, though," the Houston-born hip-hopper said. "Me on guitar and vocals, and like Kiss, like Gene Simmons. Like [Smashing Pumpkins] Billy Corgan. Seriously. When I call 'em, it's on."

He also dreams of recruiting Linda Perry, who has crafted pop hits for Pink and Christina Aguilera, to produce this masterwork.

As for this rock supergroup's name?

KISS, 'Beth': Short Film Offers New Perspective on Classic Ballad + More News

Peter Cade, Hulton Archive

"Beth" is one of the most famous fictional "chicks" in rock music, as the subject of the famed, Peter Criss-sung KISS ballad that is named after her.

Originally called "Beck," the 1976 single was co-written by Criss, producer Bob Ezrin and frequent KISS collaborator Stan Penridge. "Beth" is KISS' highest-charting single in the U.S., reaching #7 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

A short film offers a fan fiction-like perspective of KISS and the fact that they "just can't find the sound" from Beth's perspective. It might not be factual, but it sure is fun. This clip features Beth as a meatloaf-making housewife who responds to each line from the lyrics and is frustrated by the circular conversation. To call this brilliant would be an understatement.

Sevendust were kind enough to grant us some backstage access at the show and let us turn our camera on them. You can check out our favorite photos from the night below the cut!

Sacred Mother Tongue: British Metal Stars Set Their Sights on America With 'Pawn' (US SONG PREMIERE)

Paul Hairres

Noisecreep has joined forces with Sacred Mother Tongue and The End Records to premiere the thrashy new track "Pawn" from the band's Out of the Darkness, which drops April 30.

"It's a dark, twisted, angry riff, full of aggression, and it spits fury in the face of the listener from the get go," singer Darrin South warned Noisecreep before we listened to the track, so we felt compelled to pass said warning on to you, dear reader. "Even the opening sample gives you a preparatory gut punch before the song even starts."

Luckily for us and for you, that's just how most metalheads like it! A sonic punch in the gut is always welcomed.

South continued, "The aggressive parts are a direct attack on the ignorant among us, who look for no answers, and swallow whatever is fed to them. These people will always be played, as pawns. The song later expands into a far more euphoric chorus, it speaks of the longing, desperate cries of the 'little man' who is trying to be a better person, trying not to be caught up in the propaganda and fear mongering, trying to find his own peace in the world."

So, armed with that background information and the warning about the opening salvo, dive head first into "Pawn."
