In 2002, Mustaine accidentally fell asleep with his left arm over the back of a chair, causing compression of the radial nerve. The singer/guitarist was diagnosed with radial neuropathy, also known as Saturday Night Palsy, which left him unable to grasp or even make a fist with his left hand. After undergoing intense physical therapy, Mustaine began playing guitar again and returned to Megadeth after putting the band on hold for over a year.
