"I lined up a shoot with Watain but upon arrival I found out I would be shooting them out of make up… instant bummer. When I shoot a band who has an incredible image, I want to shoot them in that, not in day clothes, but whatever, I was going to make the best of the situation and get great shots anyway. We set up, I started shooting, and while shooting I was showing them the back of the camera, and they were very impressed with the work SO, they allowed me to photograph them later in the day in make up just before stage (which is what I really wanted to get). I shot this directly outside the palladium by the load in doors, and the image was basically them, and darkness but… WOW, these dudes knew EXACTLY what to do to look perfect for these shots. I ended up adding some smoke behind them in post production to make the image more full with separation. I ended up sending the guys some prints of these, and they currently hang in their band practice space/bar. Black metal being my favorite, its always great when I get the opportunity to work with a band like this who embodies everything I wish I could photograph on a daily basis."
