13. (tie) The Natural Born Killers

"When I was in L.A. over the summer, one of the biggest shoots I did was of Max Green (ex-Escape the Fate) Clayton Ryan, Philip Kross (ex-Vampires Everywhere), Brent Ashley (ex-Static-X) and Kriz DK (Deadstar Assembly, Genitorturers). They were in a new band called The Natural Born Killers. The shoot was in an incredible bar/restaurant called The Velvet Margarita, and had the most extras (10) I’ve ever worked with. I really wanted to recreate the diner scene from the movie, but we ended up going with something more fitting for the image of the band. These were shot with just a single beauty dish boomed high above to give a spread of hard light and harsh shadow. The solo shot of max as my favorite solo of the group, using the same lighting from above and adding in a single parabolic camera right for minor separation, Both shots are F10 at a 100th. I wanted it to look like he was on top of a pile of dead bodies, and that’s what we got. Sadly, This was the shoot I worked the hardest on this year, and just short of two months after the shoot, they have new members, so this shoot didn’t have much longevity. However it is by far one of my favorite band shoots I have ever done."
