Scott Ian Talks 'Worship Music'

Even though Anthrax are about to celebrate their 25th anniversary milestone, it's business as usual for the legendary thrash band as they take to promoting the forthcoming 'Worship Music,' their first album to feature brand new singer Dan Nelson, who was plucked from Long Island obscurity.
"I don't take it for granted," says guitarist and co-founder Scott Ian to Noisecreep. "We're making our tenth album. We're eligible for the Hall of Fame since 'Fistful of Metal' came out 25 years ago. I'm not holding my breath, though!"
Ian admits that being this deep in his career means lots to him, saying, "It's not so much the Hall of Fame possibility, but the fact that our first album came out 25 years ago and we're still doing this. I don't know what we would do to celebrate other than pat ourselves on the back."
Few bands have the longevity that Anthrax have enjoyed and while the current incarnation isn't the same as the 'Fistful' lineup, the band is revitalized by Nelson's presence. The question that begs to be answered is will 'Worship Music' hearken back to the high-pitched, Joey Belladonna-era or if it will adhere more closely to the grittier sound of the John Bush-years, but Ian isn't concerned with such matters, saying, "It's an Anthrax record. Just shut up and listen! Put it on, listen to it for 50 minutes and be entertained. So put it on and escape the bullshit of your day."
'Worship Music' is out later this year through MegaForce, the same label that issued 'Fistful of Metal.'
