Over the past few years, metal has lost some true shredders. This week, we lost yet another. According to German Viking metallers StrydegoR's Web site, the band's guitarist, 20-year-old Slava Giebel, was killed in a fatal car wreck the night of May 23. Sadly, Giebel died less than two weeks before the release of the band's debut disc, 'Back On Ancient Traces.'In a statement posted online in German, the surviving members of the band bid farewell to their fallen brother and faithful friend. "It is not easy for us to put our feelings into words," the statement reads. "The most important thing is that Slava never be forgotten...Thanks Slava for all of the wonderful times we had together at concerts, parties, rehearsals. Thanks for all the conversations we had...[and] thanks for all the sh-t that we've experienced together, and we still always have zueinander gehalten" (which, directly translated, means "held together").
The band says it will carry on, despite the sudden loss, and wished Giebel's "family much strength in this difficult situation" and promised they would "be there for them."
"We were more than friends, we [were] brothers," the statement continues. "For many years, we sang the same songs. Only the best die young - you were the best."
We here at Noisecreep would like to extend our deepest condolences to Giebel's family, friends, and the rest of his band.

Their translation is technically correct, but if you want the full meaning, zueinander gehalten, more closely translates to "cling to one-another" It's an expression of brotherhood and deep bonds.

MAN METAL MUSIC IS TRASH IT IS NOT MUSIC AT ALL

Heavy metal is not trash, and it is music which is more inspired by classical themes (as well as rock and blues), unlike the garbage that comes down the pike in the form of the manufactured pop/rock/rap stuff. Metal comes from the heart, and is harder to play than you think it is. Listen to any Megadeth song, and tell me if YOU could play it acurately. I play guitar, and that stuff is tough for me to get, much less someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. I've not heard of this band either, but RIP Slava.

Heavy Metal is not garbage, and it is more inspired by classical themes than the garbage that comes down the pike in the form of the manufactured pop/rock/rap stuff that seems to be everywhere. Metal is harder to play than you think it is. Take Megadeth for example. I would like to see YOU try to play any of it acurately. I play guitar, and it's tough for me, much less someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. I've never heard of this band either, but RIP Slava. 20 is too damned young to die. Rock on, brother.

never heard of them, but if he was talented, its a shame and a sad day to lose him...too many non talented people out there that get to shine.

Never heard of this guy. Probably was drinking and driving. Isn't this usually what happens and why is it when we don't know who somebody is and never once ever heard of before, only after they die, we hear about them?

i find it ironic that most people extend their condolences to a hevay metal musician but if a rapper died most of you would be all too proud of one less track of "noise" in exsistence.
