Chevelle Saving the Earth One Jar at a Time

Chevelle guitarist/vocalist Pete Loeffler is taking a unique approach to saving the Earth on the new single "Jars" from the band's forthcoming album called 'Sci-Fi Crimes.'
"I'm a supporter of stopping global warming and saving the environment," Loeffler told Noisecreep. "The only thing is, I took a little bit of a different spin on it. It's a fictional idea, a crazy one. What if we were to save some of the Earth? The imagery is just saving everything into these jars down in the basement. It's very random. It's kind of absurd. If you can picture a cellar and a shelf full of jars and each jar has something a little different in it from the Earth. It's basically just saying, 'Wake up,' but hopefully in a more creative way than just blatantly coming out and saying, 'Stop global warming.'"
The album, due out in August, was produced by Brian Virtue, an understudy of knob-turner Bob Ezrin who also worked with 30 Seconds to Mars.
"We basically didn't break the mold too far from what we normally do," said Loeffler, whose band is on tour with Staind, Halestorm and Shinedown this summer. "There are some changes. There are some tweaks. There are some songs that are probably going to surprise some people. It's still a hard rock record. I love it. I think it turned out really well.
"As far as the content of the album, I talk a lot about sci-fi issues, some alien things. I talk about Roswell (N.M.) and various things like that. It jumps around a bit. But it's going to be good. I think people are going to like it. It's kind of like a combination between our very first album and our later stuff, 'This Type of Thinking' and 'Vena Sera.' It's a combination of those two styles. It's not as raw, but it's leaning on that raw edge. It sounds like a real rock band. It's not as polished."
