Dead by Sunrise 'Out of Ashes' Album Art -- Exclusive
In trying to describe the artwork he envisioned for the debut album by his new project, Dead by Sunrise, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington tells Noisecreep he had a few key words in mind. "I wanted something that looked dark, mysterious and beautiful, but comfortable at the same time, and captured a gothic feel. But I wanted it to be modern," he said.
He took that idea to the design firm Polychrome, and was very pleased with the results. "[They] really took my words and kind of started coming up with these amazing surreal shots and concepts for the album artwork and they were the ones who developed the idea for this black void, which the cloth that you see on the front kind of represents death in a way and how it is chasing us down through the artwork," he said.
That collaborative spirit is also a metaphor for the album, which began as a solo project, before he became so impressed with the ideas presented by close friends and former Orgy members Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh that he handed over free reign to the pair to experiment with his songs. The result is Dead by Sunrise, a joining of Bennington and the electornic/rock group Julien K, led by Shuck and Derakh." I was blown away by how their style and their kind of turn and twist on the music had taken the songs," Bennington said.

does this mean the break up of linkin park?
Rickyat 7.13.2009 2:54PM
No, Linkin Park is not even close to breaking up, its just Chester's side project, meaning he's only doing this as an extra little thing. Just like when Mike formed Fort Minor, Chester's doing the exact same thing. As a matter of fact, Linkin Park's new album was supposed to be out this fall as well, but they pushed it back because Chester's been working on this for a few years and they're finally ready to release it.

No, Linkin Park is still going to be together. Chester had written songs back when they were working on Minutes to Midnight that didn't have the LP sound. He decided to create the other group to make those songs public with some of his friends. It's kind of like when Mike Shinoda made the Fort Minor CD.

Do you think Dead By Sunrise will have the same success as Fort Minor did?

I think its very simple artwork but very effective too. And I love the name, "Out of Ashes". Something new has been born from the ashes of many different things, groups, artists. It's a very fitting name. I cannot wait for the album to come out it fall!

VampireQueen---M2m didn't even have the LP sound. In fact, in my opinion, it pushed back the progression of LP. I love LP and have been since the Hybrid Theory LP days, but M2M was so unbelievably generic and boring that it was just mediocre for LP. I don't mind, and in fact i support bands progressing and changing sounds but LP just went in the worst possible direction. "New Divide" sounds even worse. I'll buy the new cd, but i wish they'd go back to what separated them from the pack, not following behind it.
Hopefully Chester's band sees good sales and good success though.
Again, all of this is just my personal opinion

I agree with Chizrocker88, but you have to remember how they put it, they dont want to keep sounding the same. M2M was one of the most experimental records due to the fact they had over 100 songs. Joe hahn had his directing to do, Mike was just getting back from fort minor and S.O.B., and chester was off doing his songs with julien K and out of ashes. But we'll probably see the same round about like it was with mike. He went off to do his hip hop thing, so chesters probably gonna go his alternative goth way. as for the new LP record, all ive heard is that its going to be Genre Busting from chester. And if youve seen the interview with mike and joe, its realy "Pick a sound a stay with it." Cant wait for out of ashes though

I think this is really interesting. I really liked Chester's previous band Grey Daze a lot so I think Dead by Sunrise will do really well. Checked out their MySpace and was pleased that "Morning After" was on there. I love that song. I will defiantly buy the album when it comes out. :]
