Norma Jean Sign to Razor & Tie

Grammy-nominated metalcore/post-hardcore quintet Norma Jean have left Solid State, their label of seven years, and signed with New York-based indie label Razor & Tie. With plans to release their first offering from their new home next summer, the band will head into the studio in January to start tracking the forthcoming album.

Norma Jean's frontman Cory Brandan comments on the news, saying, "If we didn't sign to Razor & Tie, I think we would have gone on a killing spree, with no regard for life or limb. I think for the first time in our career, upon presenting our ideas, we get to hear the word 'yes' more often."

Brandan continues on with a detailed analogy, explaining, "It's like discovering an unknown tribe on a distant island. Except we're the tribe and we don't know your language. Plus we have spears and swords, and we're cannibals. Either way, we're insanely animated about R&T showing up and want to try on their Nike Air Jordans."

The Georgia-based band will be headlining the Explosions 2009 U.S. tour that kicks off later this month, playing their debut album 'Bless The Martyr and Kiss the Child' in its entirety on some select dates. Marking the band's first headlining trek since 2008, Norma Jean have tapped Horse the Band, the Chariot and Arsonists Get All the Girls as support.

Their last album with Solid State, 'The Anti Mother,' debuted at 29 on the Billboard 200 and features songs co-written with the Deftones' Chino Moreno and Helmet's Page Hamilton. Tour dates are as follows.
