'Anvil! The Story of Anvil' Nominated for Best Documentary
'Anvil! The Story of Anvil' is an official nominee for the prestigious 2009 IDA Awards. The awards, presented the by International Documentary Association, honor achievements in non-fiction filmmaking. Also nominated for the top prize include 'Afghan Star,' 'Diary of a Times Square Thief,' 'Food, Inc.' and 'Mugabe and the White African.' Sacha Gervasi directed 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil,' which takes viewers through the trials and tribulations of the Canadian metallers' struggle to the top of the rock world. The movie also features interviews from legendary rockers Slash and Lemmy Kilmister.
"As the boundaries of documentary film continue to be fearlessly shattered by the creativity of nonfiction filmmaking, IDA is proud to be honoring not only the best films of the year, but also many of those who have led the way," IDA Executive Director Michael Lumpkin said of the nominations.
Non-fiction films nominated for the IDA are often considered frontrunners for an Oscar nod. The winners will be announced Dec. 4 in a Los Angeles at a ceremony.
