Cavalera Conspiracy Thrives Thanks to Low Pressure
The brothers -- who were reportedly not on good terms for a decade after Max left their band Sepultura (neither plays with the band they co-founded anymore) -- are both busy with their main commitments, Max with metal band Soulfly and Iggor with electronic duo Mixhell.
"Max is so busy with Soulfly, and Mixhell is taking up most of me and [my wife] Laima's time, so when we find some free time we do Cavalera," says Iggor. "I think that's why I really enjoy doing it. There's no pressure of being in a band and sitting around waiting for gigs. When we get the offers we sit together and decide if we want to do them or not do them, so it's really cool.
"We have some ideas of maybe doing a remix album of ['Inflikted'] and have people like Justice or Soulwax -- even some dub artists that my brother likes -- remix the whole album," he says. "But that's just an idea. It's nothing confirmed. But me and Max are talking about doing a new album in the future, but there's no pressure. There's nobody from the label or the agents trying to push us to do it as quick as possible."
Cavalera Conspiracy did play some dates in Europe and Japan this year, and Iggor's wife Laima says they already have some European festival dates booked for next summer.
"Probably Mixhell and Cavalera are going together on tour," she says. "We always go together. We don't play the same venues, but we always tour the same cities, especially in Europe because that works a lot over there.
"That's the time frame where we have to finish the Mixhell album, way before that so we have enough time to go on tour. I'm pretty sure we're not going to have a new Cavalera album yet," she says on behalf of her husband. "When the brothers have an idea they'll put it together and it's going to be as fast as the first album, which they did in 15 days."
