Former Incubus DJ Threatens to Kill Current Incubus DJ

Gavin Koppell is bitter. Back in 1998, he was fired as Incubus' DJ because of tensions with other band members and was replaced by the band's current spinster DJ Chris Kilmore. Of course, it wasn't until a year later, when Incubus released 'Make Yourself,' it's breakout LP, that the rock troupe took off. Perhaps that's why Koppell allegedly threatened Kilmore's life recently.

In court papers filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court, Kilmore claims Koppell is looking for revenge, and a fight. Kilmore says Koppel threatened to kill him last month over an incident that took place back in 2003. Kilmore secured a restraining order against Koppel in 2003 after the latter spit in his face.

Now, a judge has granted a new restraining order against Koppel, following complaints from Kilmore which allege the former DJ approached him at a store on Dec. 28 and said, "You will get killed if you don't lift that order ... people get killed in the street for that." Kilmore further alleges Koppel "asked me to fight him right there and raised his fists to me."

Court papers claim Koppel has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards from Kilmore and his girlfriend.

Koppel contributed samples and scratches to Incubus' 1997 LP 'S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'
