Evanescence Return to Studio for New Album
In a posting to the band's Web site, Lee confirmed that Evanescence would be working with Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Lillywhite on the new album, who had worked with U2 and Chris Cornell, and entering the studio this week to begin tracking the effort.
"I can't explain how excited I am to make this record," Lee commented. "Over the past year and a half, these songs have become the center of my life, and I can't wait to hear what they grow into in the studio. I think our sound is evolving into something that will surprise people, in a very good way. I feel, as always, that growth can be an incredible, limitless thing if you let it. I never want to make the same album twice."
Evanescence performed in New York back in November, the band's first appearance on stage since 2007. They played for more than 1,000 people at the Grand Ballroom as a warm up for a Nov. 8 gig before 40,000 people in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
