Van Halen Working on New Music

The divorce between Van Halen's David Lee Roth and the rest of the band was always an acrimonious one. Despite the post-Roth drama and the indisputable fact that the Sammy Hagar-led version of Van Halen had its own measure of success, fans have always wanted a reunion between Roth and Eddie Van Halen and company.

It's time to celebrate, VH fans. The wait is over! It's been confirmed in a press release that the band is working on new tunes. While Roth toured with Van Halen in 2008, no new music had surfaced, and the band always vigorously denied reports that they were in the studio and working on a new album.

A statement has been issued that a new studio album is due sometime in 2011. It will be the band's first platter since 1998 -- and their first with Roth since 1984. However, bassist Michael Anthony is not involved; Eddie's son Wolfgang will play bass on the record.

Van Halen will also embark on a tour in 2011.
