Linkin Park's Chester Bennington Shares His Top Five Horror Movies

Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington will face a grisly challenge to the death when 'Saw 3D' comes out on Oct. 29. Good thing we had a chance to talk to him about his top five favorite horror movies before Jigsaw renders him too incapacitated to speak. While Bennington loves horror movies and claims the original 'Saw' was one of the best films ever made, he seems to favor classic, American-made slasher and supernatural films and strays from anything too gory, bizarre or exotic.

"I'm pretty picky about horror movies, because with a lot of them I figure I'm getting the same old story," he told Noisecreep. "I mean, there are classics for sure -- and things that are still scary -- but once you've seen a masked killer attack a girl in the woods for the hundredth time, the shock value pretty much wears off."

Here are Bennigton's top five horror movies. And yes, the first 'Saw' tops the list.

1. 'Saw' (2004)
The second I saw the first 'Saw' movie, I thought this was absolutely genius. It was one of the best films of that year, and in my opinion it's the best horror film ever made. Everything was very well thought out. The entire film was carried on the shoulders of two actors, and when Jigsaw gets off the floor at the end, it was like that 'Sixth Sense' moment that you were never expecting.

2. 'Nightmare on Elm Street' series (1984-2010)
I've watched all of those. The first one was awesome because it portrayed a sick person who in real life is a really twisted serial killer of children. And he dies in a gruesome way and comes back and kills everyone in their dreams, which is cool and totally creative. Those were super, super freaky movies for me to watch when I was a kid and really the only full series I watch that I will continue to go see any time there's a movie with Freddy in it.

3. 'Hellraiser' (1987)
It was an amazing short story [by Clive Barker] and an amazing movie. Overall, I think the series kind of drifted off a little bit. But Pinhead is one of the sickest, most disturbing characters ever created. There's Darth Vader and Pinhead. It doesn't get any more evil than those two.

4. 'Psycho' (1960)
It's the film that catapulted horror into the forefront of everybody's mind. It was a truly sick film, and nothing like it had every been made like it before at that time. And nothing quite like it has been made since. It is a unique, one-of-a-kind film that has definitely been the main inspiration for most great horror films.

5. 'House of 1,000 Corpses' (2003)
I thought the idea for 'House of 1,000 Corpses' was really great, and it was pretty f---ed up. You gotta be a f---in' sick person to think of something like Dr. Satan, and Rob Zombie lives that. That is his lifestyle. Other than writing kickass music, his job is to think of really f---ed up s---. He did a great job with that. Also, I don't think many other directors could have picked up the 'Halloween' franchise and run with it unless it was somebody like Rob, who was truly a fan of it and did a great job with those movies.
