Fugazi Creating Digital Archive of Every Live Show They've Ever Played

Post-punk DIY heroes Fugazi are currently ensconced in the process of digitally archiving every single live show they have ever played. The Washington, D.C.-based band's career spans over 15 years, so this project is a massive, time-consuming undertaking.

Fugazi vocalist and Dischord records founder Ian MacKaye recently told Approaching Oblivion that he and his bandmates are currently converting thousands -- yes, thousands -- of recordings from DAT and cassette tapes to digital files.

"We're hoping it will be up in the near future," MacKaye said. "The idea at the moment is to start it with 100 shows. Then put 20 more on every month or something. Were still building the site, it's an interesting an complicated process."

Interesting? Check. Complicated? Check. A treasure trove for Fugazi fans? Check. Noisecreep would like to extend a personal "Thank you very much" to Fugazi for doing something so incredibly awesome and fan-friendly.
