Louisville's Krazy Fest Returns with Cave In, Against Me!, Hot Water Music

Krazy Fest
After an eight-year absence, Krazy Fest, the Southeast's premiere punk and hardcore festival, has been resurrected. Performers will include Krazy Fest alumni Hot Water Music, Hot Rod Circuit, Bane, Cave In, and Bouncing Souls. The festival also welcomes scene veterans Against Me!, Anti-Flag, and Lucero to the line-up. This year's Krazy Fest will be held at Louisville's Expo 5 between Friday, May 20th and Sunday, May 22nd.
The original Krazy Fest occurred in 1998, the brain child of Initial Records guru Andy Rich. The festival grew exponentially over a six-year period, hosting bands like Sick of it All, Snapcase, and Hatebreed before shuttering in 2003.
"Louisville and this region needed a festival of this style to come back," said festival organizer Andy Tinsley in a statement. "Back in the day, you stopped in Louisville on your tour, but over the last eight years, so many bands skip over it. I want to get Louisville back to having quality shows, even if it's just once a year. Hopefully this puts Louisville back on their radar."
Tinsley also offered fans three reasons why Krazy Fest has earned its can't miss status.
Diversity of the lineup: "Krazy Fest brings new and old bands together, giving kids the opportunity to see where certain genres of punk came from and where they're going," Tinsley said.
Location: "Krazy Fest is the one and only festival of its kind in this region."
Overall atmosphere: "It's a festival you can come to and make fun of yourself, and remember that music is fun. It's a festival to come and hang out with your friends. It allows the audience to experience the music in a raw form, and remember that there are bands that still play their own instruments. There's no 'rock star' mentality here."
