Incubus Pay Homage to Yesterday's Hits on 'Promises, Promises' -- Song Stream
On July 12th, Incubus will be releasing their highly anticipated album, 'If Not Now, When?' The fifth record in the Southern Californian band's platinum-packed career, it promises to deliver the kind of sophisticated yet energetic songs that we've come to expect from them.
The group tracked the album at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and Henson Studios in Los Angeles with producer Brendan O'Brien (Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen) behind the recording console. Incubus' previous three albums were also produced by the soon-to-be legendary O'Brien. You've probably already heard 'Adolescents,' the first single from 'If Not Now, When?' but now you can also get another taste of the album in the stunning track 'Promises, Promises.'
Incubus vocalist Brandon Boyd told Noisecreep about the inspiration behind 'Promises, Promises.':
"The song is our homage to the pop songs of yester-morrow. Referencing the deservedly ubiquitous artists of our parents' generation, we are here attempting to craft an artisan's clock. A piece that ticks effortlessly on the strength of its good design, its beauty and its simplicity. Herein a young girl, after so many failed attempts at love, has resigned herself to a "road of least resistance."
Armoring herself against the pain of intimacy by only engaging in surface affairs. Only to meet someone who she CAN trust with her most valued of possessions, her heart. But she can barely recognize what the real thing looks like after so much time running away from it."
'If Not Now, When?' will be released July 12th via Epic Records.
