Molly Hatchet Stand Strong on 'Sacred Ground' -- Song Premiere

Southern hard rock godfathers Molly Hatchet are trend-proof. No matter what the musical flavor-of-the-week is, the Jacksonville, Fla. veterans stick to their guns and bang out album after album of the swamp-ready boogie that made them famous. And although they aren't a metal band, they infamously took their name from a brutal prostitute who allegedly mutilated and decapitated her clients.

Molly Hatchet's 1978 self-titled debut and the following year's 'Flirtin' with Disaster' are standards in the Southern rock canon. Since then, the group has recorded and released 11 more studio records which have sold millions of copies throughout the world. Next week, Molly Hatchet will unleash 'Greatest Hits II,' a collection that marks their 35th anniversary as a band. Noisecreep is excited to exclusively premiere 'Sacred Ground,' a previously unreleased song that will be included in the hits package.

Molly Hatchet guitarist Bobby Ingram told Noisecreep about the special meaning behind the lyrics to 'Sacred Ground.'

"In a world of so many unjustified actions being asserted upon nations, cultures, religions, races and individuals, we wrote this track and recorded it during the making of our most recent album, 'Justice,'" said Ingram. "We are very proud to be able to carry a message in 'Sacred Ground' that is based upon the preservation of cultures and heritage, plus standing up for what you believe in. We've all fought for these values and that's what makes us who we are today. Everyone has their own sacred ground that they stand on, and this is our interpretation of that. In the end, the song is a strong vision of what we believe in."
