Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has a new "cross" to bear in life! The vocalist has partnered with longtime friend, Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, on a thrilling new collaboration that they've dubbed Crosses †††. Better yet, the generous duo is giving away their debut EP for free on their Facebook page.
All you have to do is click the trusty "Like" button, enter your email address and voila! You get a free copy of the EP in your inbox, which you can download to your desktop and listen to your heart's content. However, if your are an audiophile that desires better sound quality, you can purchase an upgrade for a whole $5.
If you want us to do the work for you, you're in luck, as we already downloaded and listened to the music, which is trippy, trancey and percussion heavy. It's not metal, nor is it electronic. We're going to call it moody "rocktronica," as it meshes Moreno's breathy, dreamy, sometimes femme vocals with thunderclap beats and loops on 'This Is a Trick.'

The sound quality is not flawless on the free download, but that's almost part of the charm. There EP has a few rock moments ['Option'] where the vocals are obviously Moreno, and they are set to spacey rock riffs, but overall, this plays out like it was recorded on a 4-track in a bedroom while two friends bro'ed down and indulged their shared creativity.
We're left to wonder if Moreno and Lopez will ever collaborate with Far singer Jonah Matranga, who is known for covering Deftones' songs during his solo sets and who is also a good friend of the vocalist.
