Secret Empire Mainman Delivers a Stunning Video for 'Alien (Burial)'
Under the alias Secret Empire, Los Angeles-based Connor Ragan crafts moody guitar anthems that brings to mind Thrice and Sparta along with hints of the dark sonic textures favored by artists like Trent Reznor and A Perfect Circle.
Earlier this year, Ragan entered the studio with producer Shaun Lopez (Far, Deftones) to work on Secret Empire's debut album, 'Storm Command.' Mixed by Noah Shain (Atreyu), the record will help Ragan emerge as one of the most exciting young musicians in the alt-rock world today.
Ragan recently filmed a video for 'Alien (Burial),' one of the cuts off his forthcoming 'Storm Command' album. Directed by Shawn Butcher, the clip's stark visuals capture the mood of the song's atmospheric arrangement and Ragan's impassioned vocal performance. Noisecreep has the exclusive premiere of the video below.
"When I approached my friend Shawn Butcher about doing this video, I had a very specific vision in mind. I wanted something narrative, but not overbearingly so," Ragan told Noisecreep. "I wanted a video that was consistent with the song, but not to the point of complete closure. I think that the best music videos do that; they give you a definite feeling, without you really even knowing what that feeling is. This video is about a funeral, the rest I'd like to keep to myself."
Secret Empire is giving away a free download of a track called 'Plastic Wrist' on the band's Facebook page as a teaser for 'Storm Command.'
