August Burns Red Release 2011 Christmas Track
Solid State
It's not only the season to be festive and jolly – it's also a season to be metal. We know, metal never really goes out of season, especially here at Noisecreep. But the ante is upped this December, as August Burns Red continue their annual tradition of releasing a mosh-happy version of a Christmas classic.
This year, the Christian metalcore heroes tackled 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.' They should have christened it 'God Rest Ye Metal Gentlemen,' right? They're going back to basics with this seasonal bruiser.
"The past few years the annual ABR Christmas songs haven't been nearly as 'metal' as 'Carol of the Bells' was," said guitarist JB Brubaker about band's recent Christmas offerings. "When writing our rendition of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,' I wanted to write a more traditional metal song. Something less artsy and more in your face. I am confident that 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' is easily the most metal Christmas song we've ever done."
He continued, "While recording it I was thinking 'This song sounds straight '80s metal' which amused me greatly." It amused us, too!
The tune is available as a digital single, and on limited edition, colored vinyl through CI Records, the band's former label.
