Ted Nugent Endorses Mitt Romney, Likes Rick Perry More

For such a straitlaced guy, GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is faring pretty well with scraggily backwoods rock 'n' roll types. Earlier this week, Kid Rock appeared at a rally in Michigan, and on Friday (March 2), none other than Ted Nugent, rock's most outspoken conservative, threw his support behind the candidate, making a formal endorsement via Twitter.

"[A]fter a long heart&soul conversation with MittRomney today I concluded this goodman will properly represent we the people & I endorsed him," he tweeted.

Lest Romney feel too flattered, Blabbermouth.net points out that Mitt wasn't the Nuge's first choice. Chatting Friday with the Texas Tribune, the 'Cat Scratch Fever' rocker said he would have preferred Lone Star State governor Rick Perry, who dropped out in January.

Perry's departure was due to his poor performances in several debates, and Nugent blasted the governor's handlers.

"Whatever occurred at those early debates that caused the real Rick Perry to take a back seat to whoever that was literally caused my wife to cry," he said. "We thought, 'Has he been advised by idiots?' To this day, we still don't know what happened."
