Slayer's Dave Lombardo Is a 'Metal Master' -- Video Interview
Charlie Epting
Metal Masters 3 -- which like the other events before it will offer a wild array of clinics, jam sessions and other things designed to pull music fans closer into the mix -- this year boasts an insane lineup comprised of David Ellefson (Megadeth), Kerry King (Slayer), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Mike Portnoy (Adrenaline Mob, Flying Colors) and newly added master Dave Lombardo (Slayer).
In fact, Noisecreep had the pleasure of talking to Lombardo, 47, recently about the event, in addition to several other topics, including his infamous drum break at the end of "Angel of Death." Check out our video interview with the thrash icon below.
Noisecreep also sat down with Mark Menghi, Samson's Director of Marketing, who came up with the Metal Masters concept. "Last year was insane, just off the chart," he told Noisecreep. "And this year will be even better. As a big music fan myself, my whole approach with this is to bring something to the fans that they can't get anywhere else, for a low-priced ticket. We think we have something really special lined up for April, and I can tell you this, too - as we have learned, there are always a few amazing surprises. For fans, musicians, students - this is not to be missed - serious bang for the buck."
Tickets for Metal Masters are available for $20 (first come, first served) at the Key Club's box office, located at 9039 Sunset Boulevard, or via www.keyclub.com. With door giveaways and surprise guests, all should purchase their tickets early for this All Ages event to witness the return of the Metal Masters.
